complex ovarian cyst

Hi,

I have just had a 3rd US for symptoms of bloating, pelvic/vaginal/rectal pressure, feeling full quickly, no appetite for about 5 months. The first US in March showed most likely small functional cysts on each ovary, the US in May showed "probable resolving cysts on each ovary".  The US I just had done now shows a 2.6 cm complex cyst on right ovary with the ovary size increased and volume tripled since original US. I have low pelvic aching almost daily, some thigh pain and continue to feel full even with small meals. I don't have my uterus so not sure if I am in menopause yet, though I am only 47. Gyn follow up today was very cavalier and doesn't think my symptoms have anything to do with gyn-he thinks it is GI (although I have had a negative GI workup in last 3 months). He will do another US in 3 months and said to eat fiber to have more bowel movements. I am frustrated as I have an uncomfortable feeling in my pelvis in general. Do I get a second opinion or do follow up US in 6 weeks as radiologist suggested?? Thanks!!

You must listen to your own body,I kept on getting cysts and experiencing same symptoms if I had not pushed for a lap I would gone crazy noone believed me something was wrong but it turned out I had endometroisis with complex and choc. cysts. The boating and pain is common and is NOT gi,I had so many colonoscopys  that were normal and tests that were risky that I didnt need.Listen to your gut.

Thanks for your support. I do know my body and it doesn't feel normal in there. I made an appointment with my naturopath who will do an US in 6 weeks so that if cyst is larger then I will follow up with a friend's woman Gyn doctor. I can't wait 3 months to get an answer. I will not go back to that doctor though for sure. I will get to the bottom of this one step at a time!! Thanks and I will keep all posted!

My doctor did the same thing as yours... I've had my complex cyst for over two years now but because of the size (1.6cm) she said there is no way it is causing any issues.  I've been ordered to take birth control pills, take fiber and possibly go see a GI doctor.  Makes no sense when I can clearly feel the cyst within me and know that this is what is wrong with me.  As Fungirl1011 said, you have to push for answers.

I would highly recommend that you seek a second opinion.  Even a cyst that size can cause pain.  Sometimes the doctors try to push ovarian issues off as GI issues.  Don't let them do that.  You cyst is not that big, but if it is complex then that means that there is both fluid and solid components to your cyst.  It can be nothing or it could be more of an issue.  You know your body better than anyone, and if you feel something isn't right, then you need to find a doctor who is willing to listen to you.  Please seek another opinion.  Please keep us updated on how you are doing.
