complex ovarian cysts

Hello I see I am not the only one that is frustrated with the pain of complex ovarian cysts. I have been in constant pain and pressure in my pelvic vaginal area for the past 9 months. My doctor kept putting it down to menopause and put me on hormone replacement tablets and still suffer with pain. I had a colonoscopy recently it they picked up inflammation in the bowel and my doctor referred me to a gastroenterologist thinking I may have colitis or crohns disease. The specialist didnt think my symptoms fitted the criteria for those bowel diseases and suggested it more gyneological and sent me off for a pelvic CT Scan. The radiologist sent a copy of the results to my doctor as well as the specialist which stated I had bilateral complex ovarian cysts the right measuring 5.7 x 4.2 cm and left 3.9 x 3.4 cm. The specialist office called and I will be seeing him next week and my doctor called me through the week and have seen her today. My doctor thinks the cysts are nothing it is normal and the pain I have is back related. Would really appreciate other peoples views on this as I am at my wits end and just feel like getting a knife and cutting out this pain. I am aged 52 and went through early menopause at aged 42.

Well I know that my worst pain was when my cyst ruptured. Before the rupture is was more of a nagging ache that felt like someone stabbing me in the ovary. I know that sounds really confusing. I had cyst on both ovaries. The pain your describing sounds really similar to what i went through. the only scare i would have as far as taking out your ovaries is the fact that you would be on meds the rest of your life for hormones. I Wish i could help more. i hope everything goes well for you.

Hi littlemissme93, I find the vaginal pain I am having is excruciating and using the rest room hurts and aggravates it more.I get a pressure feeling in the vaginal area that there is something trying to push itelf out sometimes with very sharp waves of pain. I had a pelvic ultra sound yesterday and when they applied pressure in the vincinity of where my complex ovarian cysts are I nearly jumped through the roof. They decided as it was too painful for me I didnt have to have the transvaginal scan done. Hopefully  will be getting the results of that test tomorrow then hopefully it wont be long to see the gynecologist and get rid of them as I can not take anymore of this pain. I have been told I may have to have both my ovaries removed as well since I have already gone through menopause.

I had a ruptured right ovarian cyst 19 years ago, they thought I had appendicitis as they both have the same symptoms. They cleaned up the mess that was there from the cyst as well as taking my appendix.

I dont know if ovarian cysts prevent you fro falling pregnant or not. I fell pregnant with my son 6 months after I had my ruptured ovarian cyst. I had never  tried to fall pregnant before then..

Hope all goes well for you with getting your problem with cysts sorted.

I had complex ovarian cyst. My doctor at the time said it was the size of a grapefruit. if its that big you should know what it is. The pain was unbearable. my pelvic area was really tight and it hurt to use the restroom as well. It can cause back pain and pregancy symptoms. I was nausous all the time. When it ruptured i thought i was dying. i went to the ER and they gave me some pain meds that knocked me out. The Fluid on my pelvis had actually stayed there for long time. Id love to tell you i didnt have anymore problems but i did and do. I just actually posted a question on complex cyst. If you go to my page maybe you could help me out as well. I can try to help you if you can give me more details of your pain and where its located.

Thank you for getting back to me. I seen my gastroenterologist specialist yesterday who had send me for the CT Scan in the first place as he thought my symptoms were  gynecological. He is arranging for me to get into see a  gynecologist ASAP as he thinks i need exploratory surgery in that area and and am having a pelvic ultra sound. I have already in the past had a ruptured right ovarian cyst has well as a bartholins cyst removed twice on the right side within a two month period. The pan I have had feels like I have a something the size of a tennis ball pushing down trough my vaginal area for 9 months. Just hope I a finally getting to the bottom of it all as I am at the end of my tether with this pressure and pain.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
HI,
Since you have already ruled out issues of the colon, other causes that need to be kept in mind are pelvic infection or adhesion formation secondary to any previous surgery or infection and bladder issues. The ovarian cysts are not very large and may not be the reason for the pain. If no other cause is found after investigations then removal of the ovaries can be considered. You can take a second opinion from another gynaecologist and a surgeon. Hope this helps.
Take care and good luck.
