Ovarian cysts can cause bladder and bowel problems. In my case it was due to the size of the ovarian cyst and the pressure it was placing on other organs. In my daughter's case, the abdominal pain with the ovarian cyst was severe and caused nausea. By the time we discovered that an ovarian cyst was causing the pain, she had become constipated, which added to her irregularity and discomfort. Like MarieMichele, before my ovarian cyst was removed, I had to eat very small amounts. I avoided spicy foods and food that causes gas. I took Gas-Ex from time to time when the gas pain was severe. I took Pepto Bismol when I had diarrhea and cramping. I also took over the counter acid reducers for heartburn. My recommendation is to ask for a referral right away to a gynecologist and find out what other tests should be completed to further evaluate and treat the cyst.
Ovarian cysts can press on bowels causing a variety of GI disturbances. I do not know enough about colon ulcers to com/ment on that. Is your gall bladder healthy? Before my cyst was removed, I had to eat only small portions at a time or I would have pain.
