Take care. How irritating for you to have to puzzle out something that the doctors should have clarified all along.
Thank you, Should I be concerned? I am having a lap done in 2 weeks anything I should watch for or ask the dr. I have reently moved back to florida . I know when they where doing a ct scan for something completely different they mentioned seeing ovarys on thier report so My dr and I called the radiologist and without knowing my history said thats what they saw. I was referred to a OB/Gyn who did not seem to concerned about it. I feel since it was removed once with a tumor inside the ovary with gross calcification. It should be removed. I had Breast cancer in 2006 both breast removed and do not want to take any chances. Thanks again
I was going to say the same thing. The ovary does not grow back, but if even some of the ovarian tissue was left behind when the (implied whole) ovary was removed, it can still secrete hormones. Someone who wrote your reports is being a little casual to call what was removed "an ovary" without being more specific, and someone would be a little casual to say that what is remaining is "an ovary" in such a case, but it sounds like what might have happened.
I stand corrected. Just found this online......Shockingly enough, yes ovaries can grow back! While they don't regenerate whole, fully-formed ovaries that make follicles, they can regenerate ovarian masses that secrete hormones. The phenomenon is called Ovarian Remnant Syndrome (ORS).
I am pretty sure an ovary cannot grow back. Are you sure they took out the correct ovary? :( Or could the report have been mistyped? It does happen.
Thank you, I had a hysterectomy 2004 leaving both ovaries> I had a 2nd surgery 2009 to remove my left ovary. I have the Pathology report stating that left ovary was removed. This is why I know it was removed. Can you offer some more insite as to how it looks like my ovary grew back? Is it truely an ovary or could it be something else?
It would appear that when they did a partial hysterectomy, they left both ovaries. This is the usual way a partial hysterectomy is done, how did you come to think they took away an ovary?
