recovery after laparoscopic cystectomy?

hey..im 17 and i had laparoscopic surgery 4 days ago to remove a 5-6cm cyst that i was told was complex and would definitely not pop. I had experienced immense pain around a week before that and i started to have less pain than i have been having for the past couple of months and when i mentioned it to the nurse at the pre-op assessment she noted that down but thought nothing of it. i was not given another ultrasound to check how big the cyst was or to check if it was even there at all and so when i came out of surgery i was told that there was no cyst. i was so confused as i had been told that it was complex and i expected them to tell me what they found but no cyst was there. im now feeling very weak and am not able to do much. when i get up i feel dizzy and even if i try to walk around for a bit i get exhausted very easily. how long do you think i will have to experience this weak feeling? i am meant to be revising for a psychology exam that i have on the 12 january and this really isnt helping :( i have loads of pain in my back as well that i cant seem to cope with..=/ i just want to feel normal again :( also, they told me i have a swollen left ovary. what might that mean?
thanks in advance :)

Recovery time from this type of surgery can vary depending on the person.  The dizziness could be from your pain pill, not eating enough or being dehydrated.  You need to make sure that you are eating and drinking plenty and that you eat something when you take your pain pills.  Weakness is also normal after surgery.  Just because it is laparoscopic doesn't mean that it is less of a surgery.  Yes you do not have a large incision, but your body was still cut into none the less.  You just need to give yourself time,  It takes about 2-4 to start feeling better.  Is your psychology homework something you can do at home while you are resting on the couch?  The back pain, I'm not sure about.  You can call your doctor and ask the nurse what is going on.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I've just had a laparoscopy surgery to remove the fibroids from my uterus two weeks ago, taking advantage of the holiday season, I'm still resting at home instead of going to work.  Sounds like your body is weak, please try to rest as much as possible.  Last week (10 days after the surgery), I thought I could go out and walk -- I was wrong.  After walking for 20 minutes or so, my back went extremely tired.  It is important NOT to overload your back at this time.  It's good to walk around inside your house, say, walking from the bedroom to the kitchen, or from the sitting room to the backyard.  Just a very short walk but do so from time to time during the day.  Don't go out and exhaust yourself, and always keep your body warm.

Im going to call a doctor tomorrow :) .. I dont think i have a cold now..I think its the flu..ive totally lost my appetite and just want to sleep all day. i wasnt shown any breathing exercises. the nurses at my hospital literally just wanted me out of there as soon as possible. If i hadnt have thrown up because of the morphine they gave me I would not have been able to stay over night. I really want to get better but every morning I wake up and I feel like staying in bed all day =[ .. only good thing at the moment is the wounds seem to be healing. The belly button one is taking a bit more time than the others but they are getting there somehow :) thank you so much for the advice. Its great to know someone understands and can help. I cant talk to any of my friends about it as they havent got this problem :( ..I hope all is well with you :)

I'm glad you get a chance to rest and recover too.  I know what it's like to have to study for finals.  I took my finals last week.  Just pace yourself and take notes when you are feeling up to it.  I think you should call your family doctor (not your surgeon) and let him know that you just aren't feeling up to par.  Do you have a chest cold?  Have you been doing the breathing exercises that they showed you how to do?  Please give your doctor a call.  It will make me feel better :-)
