painful muscle spasms

Please I need some advise I Had surgery on my right shoulder two months ago for a rotator cuff tear also while in surgery  the doctor found  a labrum tear which needed to be repaired, my acromion was shaved and a little piece of my clavicle had to be removed.
A little over 5 years ago I had surgery on my left shoulder I had a labrum tear and other complications do to this injury. My left shoulder never recovered fully.
Since my right shoulder surgery I had to depend on my left arm to do almost everything.
I have developed painful muscle spasms under my left shoulder blade symptoms burning, numbness also radiating pain, numbness rear portion of my left shoulder goes down triceps muscle to my elbow, At time it makes it hard to take a deep breath.

Rotator cuff surgery can be so painful and the outcome isn't always the best for different reasons.  My ex-husband had it and did not have the right physical therapy and his never healed correctly.  I would agree with Tuck in getting to the doctor and finding out what's going on, getting some medication to help the pain, and possibly some more PT.

I hope you can find some relief.  I know it too my ex-husband a very long time to get to his end result.

Hi Stevie,

I am so sorry that you are having so many painful shoulder issues. Has your PCP ordered muscle relaxers to relieve those spasms? If not I would request one. It took me several tries with different muscle relaxers before I found an effective one... so don't be discouraged if the first one or two are not effective.

Another thought is severe inflammation in both areas. I recall having a surgery when no amount of pain meds or muscle relaxers were beneficial. My surgeon prescribed a burst of steroids that did wonders. I would also discuss that possibility with your PCP.

Additionally some more PT may be in order. You may need to strengthen those supporting structures. One round does not always prove enough. Whatever you don't do not do nothing... be assertive and insist on feeling better then you currently do.

I hope you 'll let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to hearing from you again soon.... and I truly hope you'll find some relief from your pain.

As Always, Take Care,
~Tuck
