Hi everyone

I am in horrific pain. I have had more than my share of pain . I haave fibrom., buldging discs in my back, nerve damage from a hip replacement, and bursitis.( sorry about the spelling). Anyway. Out of all of that pain, the doctor that I had put me on high doses of pain meds. I have been on them all. When my body would get use to them, they quit wrorking, and he would change the meds. I recently switched Drs. due to the fact of not liking him him insisting thses pills even though they didn't work. Last Thursday, during a well womans exam, I got a jolt of severe pain in my lower right pelvic area. (I had a total hysterectomy 12 years ago due to endomitriosis.) Since then the pain has gotten severe. Dr. did a Ultra sound.and it was neg. I went to the ER and they refused to treat me for the pain because I had been on stong pain meds in the past. They didn't even offer a advil. I was screaming in pain, had not takin nothing but over the counter pain med. and the ER doctor sat in front of my daughter pretty much calling me a drug addict. I wanted so bad to be admitted to find out what is wrong with me. I am having laperscopic in a couple weeks, but what can i do until then? I am in so much pain and nothing helps! Any suggestions please? I was being perscribed dilauid 4mg; methadone 10mg , been on fentenol patch 75mg. so many others in the past.
Now i am off everything. I have been off these kind of meds for 3 months. When I had a migrane and had to go to ER a few weks ago they gave me 2 mgs dilaudid through iv and it didnt even touch the pain. I am at a loss. I truly am seeking out any help and answers of any options to relieve pain, even if its just enough to let me get a little sleep.
Sorry this is is so long.

Hi Sharka:

As Brian suggested, I would definitly request a copy of your medical records. It sounds as if there might be some negative things written about you in them. Maybe even a red flag for the Doctors not to treat you with opiates. I don't know...but that would be my suspicion.

You must really try and find new pain management..I would really hang on to your Doctor until you do find new care.

Have you thought about going to a Methadone Clinic? You might at least get some kind of relief that way.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Please take care and good luck,
Mollyrae

No need to appologize and I am very sorry you are experiencing the pain levels that you are currently.

Am I understanding you correctly here? You DON'T have a Dr currently and left your last one due to not liking him? If this is correct I would ask to see your medical record to see what this Dr has potentially written about, especially after the experience you had at the ER......Why would they not give you anything for your pain unless they were thinking you were drug seeking or they saw something on your records from the previous Dr? I'm not saying you were seeking drugs just throwing out the idea that maybe the ER had?

I would have expected you to get some pain relief from the dilaudid if you had been off the narcotics for 3 months so that is also kind of strange.

My best suggestion would be to find a good Pain Management Dr ASAP. Which state do you live in?

I would definately obtain your medical records form your previous physician so you can determine if you may face any issues with future Dr's potentially prescribing you narcotics in the future. I really hope you can get some help soon, Lord how I know how it feels to suffer with irretractable pain.

Please keep us posted on your progress, once we know which area you live, there are probably members on here who will be able to put you in touch with good PM physicians.

Warmest regards.

-Brian.
