Pain in Back of Head - Exertion?

I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this, please advise if there is a better place.

I'm not sure what I have, possibly exertion headaches? I get strong headaches in the back of my skull, just above the base of my skull. The only time I get these headaches is after short bursts of intense physical activity. The headaches are powerful enough that I must stop whatever I am doing and wait for the headache to pass- which takes about 5 minutes or so. Does anyone know if this could be an exertion headache or something else?

Thanks, all. Fortunately, I'm not an overly active person : ) So these headaches are a rare occurrence, but they do concern me. I will check with my doctor and also see what the migraine and headache forum folks say. (before I posted here, I was looking for 'headache' under H and couldn't understand why it wasn't there lol).

If I figure out what is happening I will post here.

I get these but they're from my neck.  I'd suggest you talk to a doctor just to make sure you aren't having any problems.  Good luck and keep us updated on how you're doing.

I'm really not sure, but it sounds like it might be.  I believe tension headaches also affect the same area, but I don't think they come on after intense physical activity and go away 5 mins later.  They are usually brought on by stress or physical tension and stay for a while.
I hope you feel better soon.  There is a Neck and Back forum here that may be helpful and I believe there is a forum for Head issues as well.
