anyone thinking of moving to florida with weather-sensitive fibro should NOT do it. the pressure systems fluctuation too much. it is very difficult here.
I'm in New England and find the weather definitely affects my fibromyalgia and my arthritis and nerve pain as well. Some doctors don't believe weather plays a part in pain and others do. I asked my surgeon and he said the two best places to go would be Arizona or Colorado. Apparently the barometric pressure in both those places are supposed to stay on an even keel. I asked about Florida, as I've thought about going there, at least for retirement. He thought Florida was a hit or miss because of the humidity. He said some people get pain relief by moving or going to Florida and others don't.
I know I'm better in the summer than the winter. The humidity doesn't seem to bother me. I am bothered by sudden drastic changes in temperature, and I'm also bothered by cold and dampness. I'm dreading the coming winter.
I have found the biggest help with my fibro is exercise. Swimming works best for me. I haven't been doing any exercise lately and need to get back to it.
Are you thinking of moving? Have you asked any doctors what they think? I'm interested to see if anyone has any other input on this. I was surprised when my doctor mentioned Colorado (which would be excluded for me since the cold does bother me.) I thought of Arizona and I still haven't ruled it out. The two problems I have with it is no ocean and scorpions!
