What to do when surgeries failed and docs does nothing and pain untreated

Trying to get to the bottom of my pain since 2007 and the inaccurate diagnoses like Fibromyalgia for Right shoulder, neck, axilla pain that radiated, I also complained of choking on water a jelly bean etc.. but all to deaf ears and of course these scalp lesions that biopsied 2 times 1st dx lichen planus and 2nd necrotizing folliculitis with staph. my surgeries are the following" 2009 Anterior Cervical discotomy 3 disc with cadaver bone with plate and while I was being intubated they had difficultly as there was a mass in the epiglottis region so in 2010 I had a epiglottis tumor removed with over 80% of my epiglottis which I was unaware of til I went out of state and saw a head neck doc cause I was chocking and constant clearing throat the surgeon via mri/swallow test indicated Squamous cell but it the pathology was benign, then in 2010 I had the excisional right axilla biopsy which was worthless as the lymph tissue disintegrated so she got none the last was the 2013 right shoulder SLAP2 with 4 metal anchors , bankart repair, extensive debredment and bicep repair I had 1 week that I thought I was given my life back and the doctor performed a miracle but that soon faded after the Marcaine pump in the subacromail space was removed and the same pain started all over also the Livedo Reticuaris but now I have SOB, weakness, palpitations when pain severe and have gone down 2 pant sizes as I have no appetite from size 16 to 12 within 6 months. I am so exhausted and disgusted especially that I am back in the hell hole state of Maine cause my doctor refuses to follow my ortho from florida that I need to be under pain management I was on Percocet and Morphine it helped but not all time ,, I asked for anemia test, bone marrow test or any test but I get no where .. I have never abused meds or have a record but all she says " opiates are abused next you will be on Methadone" I have great distain for the patients that have abused the system and this caused most of our wonderful empathetic doctors to get out of medicine and of course the DEA involved is crazy and how the AMA allows it is unclear. the AMA should be concerned about the too many incompetent doctors they put out there as my daughter stated when she was in vet school all the flunkies that could not keep the high GPA's for vet school changed to medical school.. something has to change with our delivery of care as no patient should have to suffer as I have. I would like to know what options are available for a patient like myself

Yeah I've had to fire a few doctors. It never feels good, but if the current doc has given up and isnt trying anymore sometimes it has to be done.

I have found a much better urologist and pain doctor doing this. They have helped manage the pain I have better than the first docs I had.

Sometimes you have to go Donald Trump and tell them you're fired!

Wow, you've been through quite a lot. First I would call that Ortho doctor in Florida and see if he can give you a recommendation, he might know someone even though he is in another state. The doctor your currently with, if its a general doctor, I would start looking for a new one right away, if its a pain doctor, same thing. I know some pain management doctors require a referral but some don't. So get your records together and start calling. I would make extra copies of your records so that you may give them to a few different doctors to "interview" to see if they're a good fit. You are not required to stay with any doctor who wont give you the best care that they can. Good luck to you and let us know how things go.

i am no longer amazed at the stupidity of the general public---they have been so dumbed down----they are so bigoted and judgmental -----i don't see it changing for the better at all folks----that is the illusion that keeps most people from doing anything---------what that anything is i haven't figured out yet.
it makes it really hard for us in the pain-community.  Along with having to deal with the opiates---we have to live under that cloud. I refuse to and i do not hide the fact that i use opiates anymore. I shout it out now. Thank god for the Poppy! Such a beautiful and useful plant!

I had been on methadone quite some time ago but I got very sick from nausea and vomiting. I was too sick to notice if it helped my pain any but it may work for someone else. Anything is worth a try when it comes to pain relief.

I'm on methadone and oxycodone for my pain. what's wrong with methadone? Is it the stigma that it's only for heroin addicts? If so that's sad that people can still be so judgemental and ill informed, especially in this day and age..
