Hello Dale,

I am so very sorry to hear that you have had so many head traumas and are in pain. We can relate to chronic pain. It is disruptive to our lives and brings us many challenges.

You are always Welcome in the Pain Mangement Community but I encourage you to also post in our Migraines and Headache Forum. There members may have better information for you based on their personal experiences. Below is the link:

I assume you have consulted numerous neurologists. If not please do so. I agree that you may have PCS. Obviously avoiding additional head trauma is key.

I hope you will find a remedy to your pain. Please feel free to keep us posted. I wish I had better suggestions for you. I do encourage you to continue to seek solutions. Best of luck to you.

Take Care,
~Tuck

My son has had a number of concussions and both he and my husband suffer occasional migranes. They both swear by excedrine migraine - and chocolate. I know it sounds funny... but it really does work. When they feel one coming on, they take a small bag of m&m's and the excedrine. The additional caffiene helps the headaches. The doctor told us that really was better than taking a narcotic for the pain. For some reason the narcotics can make them worse (especially concussion pain).

Now, having said that - if you just injured your head again, you may have PCS (post concussion syndrome). Have you seen a neurologist? My son had that and it lasted nine months. The neurologist also put him on amitriptyline during that time - but it made him very drowsy. He stopped taking it and went back to the excedrine migraine.

I assume they have done an MRI and all is clear. When my son's headaches continued after his last concussion, they sent him for a second MRI to be sure nothing had developed during that time.

What is the P.T. you mentioned? Physical therapy????
