2 year old vomiting at night

My daughter is two years old and this past Sunday she woke up vomiting. At the time we thought that most likely she had gotten into some bad food because her Father had picked her up a chicken tenders kids meal late that night when the place was about to close. Well she fell back to sleep that morning and when she woke back up she was fine. She was playing and running and laughing all day. She even rode a carousel! Well that night (Sunday)while she was sleeping she threw up again. She also threw up when she woke up that morning. When I say she's throwing up I'm not just talking about a small amount like spit up she is throwing up a lot. Well after she threw up that first time monday morning she was fine again all day and just as happy as could be. Again on monday night and Tuesday morning she threw up again.
I have been nursing my daughter every since she was born and I'm wondering if there is any way possible that somehow my milk is making her sick. She nurses a little during the day still but mostly at night because she sleeps in the same bed with me. She uses it to go back to sleep when she wakes up and to fall asleep in the first place. I don't think that it is the chicken anymore because it seems like that would keep her sick all day and not just at night. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hello.  I am curious what the outcome was with your son's nighttime throwing up last month.  I have a 20 month old who is exhibiting the exact same as you and so many describe.  This is day 5+, and the diarrhea is actually even yuckier today, if that is possible.  I am 99% certain it is a merely a stomach virus affecting her worse than my 3 older kids who also have varying degrees of stomach/intestinal issues.  None of them have vomited, but the stool is the same yellow color and very soft.  Really just waiting for it to run it's course, but would love to know how long it may run.  Also, from reading above, a post in 2008 says her doc confirmed a stomach virus that milk products make worse.  All three complain of stomach cramping literally minutes after drinking milk.  My toddler is breastfed at night.  Just curious...would enjoy hearing back from you.  Thnx!

We went through 16 days of night vomiting and diarrhea. I was convinced my son had cancer. We had blood work, chest xray, head ct and abdominal ultrasound. We finally saw a GI who put my fears somewhat to rest. Similar to what someone had said about the stomach being paralized, she believed that it started as a virus. Then, the digestive track was torn up and his stomach was slow to empty as a result. She suggested several things which have worked: no food three hours before bed, two month script of prevacid, and eliminatign high fructose corn syrup. If it begins again, she wants him tested for celiacs and possibly scoped. We have been good for three weeks, but then last night he woke up feeling sick but didn't throw up. I'm thinking something he is eating aggravates it. Good luck to you all!

My daughter has been vomiting at night occasionally for years and I have no idea why.   We have been to specialists and leave with no answers...she is 7 years old now and thankfully knows when an "episode" is coming on and can run to the bathroom in time, but it hasn't always been that way.  One of my instructors at school is also a NP and she suggested keeping a food diary to see if there are any trends...has anyone else noticed a certain food causing this?
