thanks for your comments tatorbug, its really relieving to know that I can have kids after this!! I will definately wait at least a year ( regardless of what the docs say!!) before TTC. I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday and will spent 2 days in patient. I am a little anxious but I am glad I am getting it solved.
Oh, and thank you by the way, I think he is a cutie too! :)
Tobi- I was 26 when I found mine- I actually didn’t know I had them until I got pregnant- we were not trying to get pregnant but at my first ultrasound my doc found the fibroids and that I was miscarrying… the miscarriage had nothing to do with the fibroids. I have had two miscarriages both genetic related… fibroids do not cause miscarriages- they can make it difficult for implantation to occur, if they are on the inside surface- or, like yours they can make it impossible for the baby to grow (that would have been my case as well, had the baby not died before he/she started to grow)… I chose to have the fibroids removed right away after the miscarriage so that when we did decide to have children I would be healed, etc… so I don’t know how long you should wait exactly- your doctor will tell you better. I can tell you that about 2 years later I was pregnant again and she just turned 3… I had no problems with the pregnancy and I had no fibroids when I had her… I just had my other baby 8 weeks ago, and again I had no problems with the pregnancy and I apparently did have 2 fibroids that developed during the pregnancy- at the c-section my doctor found them and said they were each the size of baseballs (smaller then my previous ones, but still considerably large)… he said he couldn’t removed them during the c-section because I would bleed too much from it- but as I said before- I will probably not have them removed- if they do ever cause me problems I’ll probably just have my whole uterus removed.
Anyway… I wouldn’t worry too much about them growing back before you have a child, esp. if you want to have one soon… I would talk to your doctor about how long to wait before TTC… I would want to wait about a year probably, if it were me, no matter what my doc said- but that is just my opinion…
I wish you the best of luck….
thanks so much for your comment tatorbug, btw, your baby is very cute!!! Its good do hear good news about the surgery because I actually kinda have no choice than to get the surgery, the docs said that the fibroids caused the uterus in wedged in my pelvis betweeen the bone and there will be no room for the baby to grow anyways, plus i have a tilted uterus on top of all that.
How long did you have to wait after the surgery before trying to conceive? I am getting married in August and we were thinking about trying right away, but I am not so sure anymore. At the same time, I don't want to wait for the fibroids to regrow and have to do another surgery.
I had a myomectomy 5 years ago- I have since had 2 children... I was in the hospital for 4 nights, and out of work for 2 weeks... I had no problems because of the fibroids in getting pregnant- you should get them out though (as I know you are) because they get bigger during pregnancy and can cause the baby to not have enough room to grow.
I just had my second child in January and during the c-section he found 2 more large fibroids, but I do not plan on having more children, so I don't think I will have these removed...
I will be honest, it was not an easy surgery for me... the c-sections were way easier.... but it wasn't the worst thing in the world either!
You will be recommeded to have all your children c-section.... but don't let that scare you- it is kinda nice to have them that way anyway!
Good luck to you- I will keep you in my thoughts.... you will be just fine!
thanks for your comment. Just went to the OB today, found out that I have to get a myomectomy as well as resuspension of my uterus. Unfortunately I will not be able to do it laprascopically, so I wonder how my recovery time will be. Doing the surgery next week.
im not 100% sure about fibroids but i had a cousin and also a gf who both went tru surgery to get the fibroids removed...they went on to have healthy babies so i dont think it should be a problem, i would just reccomend following with the OB.
Good Luck.
