Small amount of spotting

My husband and I have been trying for about a year to get prego. And I ovulated over Christmas. Well now I am having a small amount of spotting. Very dark. My period is supose to start on the 9th. I am normaly irregular. But my cycles have become more normal the last 5 months. They have been coming about every 4 weeks. And that is pretty good for me. But I am wondering if the dark spotting is Implantion bleeding or if I may be starting my period early.  And if it would do any good to take a test right now. Thank you for your help

You could be either... LOL! The only way to know is to test. You need to wait about two weeks to test after ovulation. So that would mean you can test on the 9th.
