Natural Pregnancy anyone???

Hi! I'm wondering how many of you are intentionally having a natural pregnancy/childbirth? It seems like most ladies here are more than happy following Dr.'s orders without question or doing research on their own. Does anyone know if there's a Natural Pregnancy app because I can't seem to find one? Dr.'s often don't have our best interests in mind, as they basically work for the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, some of the advice I see here from other women is just ridiculous. No, it's not okay to eat Oreo cookies or take opiate-based pain pills while pregnant! That's basically feeding your baby garbage & heroine. Come on people! I am not trying to judge, and by no means am I perfect, but it would be nice to chat with other ladies who I have ideas/philosophies in common with. I am planning a rural home birth, take herbs & food-based supplements, try hard to follow a Nourishing Traditions nutrient-dense diet of organic food, grass-fed meat & dairy, raw milk, soaked & sprouted grains, nuts, & seeds, take no OTC meds ever, etc. Anyone else out there???? I am 35yo, 15 weeks along, FTM. Just puttin' in out there.♡

I'm in the same boat with you, op! 37, ftm, 19 wks, organic/vegan, planning home birth with midwife. Luckily my family and friends are supportive and I'm pretty good at letting it roll of my back when people get judgmental. I suffer from chronic back pain and migraines, but the minute i started ttc, i also started weaning myself of my medications. For me personally, i figured if i couldn't make that sacrifice, i wasn't ready for the sacrifice of parenthood. Some people may choose to think this is "getting on my high horse," but i don't rub it in other people's faces or say anything to them about choices they're making that i might consider "wrong," so i really don't care about their criticisms.

To get back to your question, I'm also on the baby center app and there are a few relevant groups there where you can find like-minded moms... I'm on a home birth, vegan, and nucb board that are consistently good. Haven't found a good active 35+ board i like though! Anyway, hope to see you around!

I have no intention of taking medication or pain relief during my pregnancy/birth and would like as little medical intervention as possible, however, I make no apologies for taking medications to keep my baby safe. I have not been able to control my blood pressure through preganancy even though I am nowhere near overweight, exercise daily and eat well. I don't want to take these pills and will be off them as soon as i can be but my responsibility is to my unborn child, not my ideals.

If you're looking for a forum that would be more about wholesome living and pregnancy then try mothering.com. lots of good stuff on there.

I was a little sensitive about the medication. Sorry, thankfully I was only taking that crap for a little bit. I have girlfriends that have given me pointers on natural childbirth like hypnobirthing  as for a site that encourages eating clean during pregnancy I haven't found anything with up to date information. Good luck and if I find something good I will share.

I think its the way you are saying it. If you say "i dont mean to judge", then you're judging. No ones perfect, im sure you eat things now and then that are not healthy for you. My doc does not work for the pharmacutical companies, I actually feel very blessed to have her, shes been amazing and I am high risk besides being over 35. I like youridea of lifestyle, I know our diets play a big part of our health but there are more subtle ways of saying it or looking for women with ghe same ideas. You pretty much managed to insult people who dont think or live the same way as you do. Probably unintentionally. Also, there is a difference of women who take pain medication because they need to like Kelly and women who take it for recreation. You cant catagorize everyone. I dont think you meant any harm, but Im giving you another prespective on your post so you can understand the reactions. No hate, just feedback...

If the community of this app isnt good enough for you then fair enough but the need to express why your better than everyone and that your leaving because of it is heartless to a bunch of women whos children to be will be their world even id they struggle terribly

Kelly, I am so sorry for your suffering! That sounds horrible and obviously you are in a situation that is not typical of most pregnant women. Jude, high blood pressure is certainly something that can be affected by diet & lifestyle. For the record, organic apples are certainly healthier than apples conventionally grown with pesticides. Again ladies, I'm sorry if I came across as judgmental, I am simply trying to find ladies that I have something (other than being pregnant) in common with. I don't understand why that is a problem. I don't post in other people's threads, judging them or trying to make them feel bad for the choices they're making or the questions they're asking, so why are people feeling the need to reprimand me for my post?

My culture doesn't believe in medication. I don't take meds period pregnant or not. I'm in the medical field so I try to practice good eating habits. All my children have been born 100% natural w/o the help of epidurals either. Organic is healthy but in some cases no different from other natural foods. Everyone has the freedom to do what they want and what works best for them. Some people cannot handle pain well. So if their blood pressure is sky high from being in pain then harm is still caused to the baby and mother.  I'm blessed I have a high tolerance and a lot tougher than most. Some people need meds during pregnancy to survive.  If they're in renal failure then their bodies don't excrete toxins like they should medication is detrimental for both mother and baby. Natural is better but sometimes not an option for all. Just saying. ...

I don't understand why you hate to inform me of my "AMA". There is no more risk to my baby than yours because of my age. In fact, it sounds like you are judging women older than you for having children. I understand that "bad" things can happen regardless of one's lifestyle choices, that is not my point. I have the same lifestyle pregnant or not, because it's important to me. I am not meaning to be judgmental, I am simply looking for other women who share some of the same values as me, which I am struggling to find on this app. I don't see why you have a problem with that, except that you are obviously not one of those people. What exactly would you consider "back woods" about the choices I'm making?

Try being in a car accident at 12 weeks pregnant with 17 broken bones cause some jerk wasn't paying attention. It killed me taking heavy pain medication in thoughts of messing up my baby. Now 22 weeks and still in a wheelchair  Thank god baby is okay after everything we have been through. This is my first child and I had every intention of natural birth but things change.

Hate to inform you HTASTIC but by you being 35 you are considered AMA! And at only 15 weeks I wouldn't be so judgemental. You can eat and drink and do everything right, and bad things still happen. What works or what you consider working for you, may seem back woods to others, so I would be more empathetic instead of so judgemental...

Some women don't have the ability to do that. If you have high blood pressure you going to do what you have to do to make sure your baby is safe and your safe. Ideally no one wants to take meds, but that can't be everyone's reality. Eating healthy is great, but just because my Apple isn't organic doesn't make it any less healthy than your Apple. Also your 15 weeks, that's pretty early on. There is the possibility that you may have a craving for an Oreo at some point. It's great to have ideals, but lance sings wiggle room for yourself, things change.

I would be sketchy about drinking raw milk or anything that hasn't been pasteurized as it may contain bacteria that could be life threatening for ur baby. Otherwise what ur doing is great.

Ive seen a few websites dedicated to that type of lifestyle. I do my best to eat healthy, but I am by no means perfect. Ive had my share of oreos this pregnancy lol. I do refuse to take medication if I dont need to. Ive only taken tums for heartburn and occasional benedryl for allergies, no tylenol or anything else. I had intentions of eating cleaner, but I didnt follow through. Good for you on healthy eating, its the best thing you can do for your baby! I am lucky, my doctor would rather not prescribe medication or un needed tests unless its necessary, which it has remained that way. She pushes least amount of interference as the best option which I like. Im trying for a natural delivery but will have my baby at the hospital. Best of luck to you!
