Closing up?

Is it normal to have your cervix begin to close up? I saw my regular ob/gyn last week and she said that I was 2-3 cm dilated, 75% effaced, and baby was at ground 0.
Saw another ob/gyn today (as requested by mine while she's on holidays) and his trainee saw me first.
The trainee said that my blood pressure had risen,( went from 120/68 to 131/70) that I lost 5.5 pounds, that I was 3-4 cm dilated, still at around 75-80% effaced, and that baby had dropped down to -1!
The ob/gyn came in about 15 mins later...he said that I was not even 1cm dilated, that my cervix was way back and to the left, that it was not effaced at all, that it was thick, long, and soft,...and then he did the roughest internal I have ever had! I'm spotting now...light pink, and it hurts like crazy down there.
He said that my regular ob/gyn and his student were both wrong! My regular ob/gyn has thick fingers...so does this new guy's student...the new ob/gyn has very slender fingers... so I am totally confused now! Don't they use the same kind of measurements? lol. I'm a renovator by trade, and if I was off by even half a cm it could ruin everything lol.
MY ob/gyn said that she was going to induce me on Monday or Tuesday of next week when she gets back. This guy today said that if I was HIS patient that he would leave me until the end of April!!!
Just before I left his office he came out and said something that blew my mother-in-law and I away...he said " Just so you know, that WHEN you go into labour this weekend,(not if ) I'm on call,so I'll be the one delivering this baby."
How odd is that? First he says that everyone else is "wrong" and that HE wouldn't induce me,and then he said that he would be delivering THIS baby this weekend!!!
What in the heck is going on?
Obviously he did a sweep or whatever you prefer to call it, of the membranes. But why not tell me or ask me before hand or after doing it? Why tell me that I'm not even close and then tell me that you'll be the one to deliver?
If this guy is right, then that means that I'm going into reverse on this pregnancy...UGH!!!! lol
Anyone else ever have this happen to them????

First off he sounds kinda rude:( For your sake I hope you dont go when he is on call. I dont think that your cervix can srink, just that everyone measures a little diffrently. You can look up online a dailation chart. Its easy to see how everyone measures diffrent depending on size of fingers and so forth.  As for you being sore down there after a rough exam, I would bet he stripped your cervix. I have had it done with all my pregnancys and it hurts like the dickens, maybe thats why he is so confident that you will go this weekend. I hope you go tonite!! He oviously doesnt practice what he preaches cause he he would have made you wait untill the end of April, then why did he fool around with your cervix??

Glad I'm not the only one that's confused lol.
Don't know when I'm due...LMP was end of May which makes March 9th my due date...then the U/S said I was due April 5th....so who knows...Maybe if the U/S had been done earlier it would have came to an agreement with my LMP lol.
Can't remember when I had first U/S but what I do remember is that I had missed my chance for the one Down's test but I still had 2 days to decide on whether or not I wanted to have the amnio...if that helps. lol
All I know is that they are all in agreement that this will be my biggest baby yet...the biggest to date was 21 years ago and he was 7lbs13oz and 22 3/4 inches...and this one will be bigger? Ouch!
MIL thinks that this strange ob/gyn is just saying this because whoever delivers the baby is the one who gets paid lol
She also figures that he DID "tweak" my cervix in hopes that I'll go into labour before my Ob/gyn comes back on Monday or Tuesday and induces me.
Still sore and still spotting since he did that at 10 this morning. No cramps though :(

Ummmm...I don't know what to say. It's all kind of odd and confusing, so I don't blame you for being a bit befuddled. I can't remember when you said your regular OB would be back...but I think I'd just make up my mind to wait for my regular doctor. If you go into labor this weekend, that's great...but I don't think I'd count on it. When are you actually due?
