Mucus Plug/ Bloody Show

My last doctors appointment was on Tuesday 3/29, and my doctor told me I was dilated to a two and thinned 80%, well Wednesday night I lost my mucus plug (or so I think I did). It was this giant brown blob. Thursday all day my discharge was brown, and it continued to Friday. I called my doctor to make sure everything was ok and the nurse told me to go into the labor and delivery and get it checked out. I went in and the nurse had trouble finding my cervix so she told me I was dilated to a one. I was having contractions every four minutes, but they sent me home anyway.Today is Saturday and I woke up with blood streaked discharge (bright red blood). I'm not sure whether I should call the doctor AGAIN and make sure this is totally normal. I'm figuring it's just the "Bloody Show" but I'm not sure. What could it be?

Might be the baby positioning itself lower trying to get ready for delivery. Not sure. Never heard of someones stomach getting smaller soon before delivering. Do you think the "bloody show" is beginning to concern you? Please do not hesitate to continue calling. Especially if your contracting often too close together. Good luck and congratulations.

ok!! Good! I was timing then wrong then, but I will start timing them right! I also have another question now! My stomach looks smaller. It's not as round and is kind of flattening out. My belly  button isn't so stretched! Is this normal for my stomach to get smaller??

Just make sure you are timing your contractions from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next :) I have had two children (who will be 21 and 19 in July and June). Would you believe I didn't find out how to properly time contractions until I went to nursing school? LOL

To me that sounds like more than bloody show...BUT I didn't have any bloody show with either pregnancy, so I don't have any personal experience to go by.

It does sound like your bloody show and is completely normal.  However that being said, a call to your Dr. is never a bad thing.  You are obviously very very close to having that baby (yay!!!!) and in my opinion it's always better to be safe then sorry.  Are you still having contractions 4 minutes apart?  If so, I might take a trip back into L&D. I know here if they are consistantly under 5 minutes they tend to keep you.

Congrats, you will be holding that baby very very soon now.
