42 & ttc

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am 42 and ttc. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. Ikeep asking "Are we doing the right thing?"  I am so scared something bad will happen after reading all the negatives. I am hoping for all positive :) Its great to read all the success stories.

I am 43 and am finally 14 weeks pg.   I've been trying since 41.    I had the same thoughts you did, and even more so when I finally got a pregnancy to stick after 2 m/c's.    I went in for genetic counseling and was told that my baby had a 1 in 12 chance of having either downs, trisomy 13 or trisomy 18.    1 in 12, holy cow, that's scary.

I had the CVS test and its a perfect, healthy little boy.     so don't worry.....we can STILL do it :)

I did have regular cycles and am a fit and healthy person.   However I was told that my FSH was getting high (13).    I had a good understanding RE and his comment to me was....I think you may not have alot of eggs, but I'm betting they are good eggs.   Lets just keep trying until we find one of them.    After a year and a half....we did :).

I couldn't be more pleased or feel more blessed, I'm so glad I kept trying.

Good luck to you

I guess I shouldn't be complaining .... I am so sorry for your loss. I know how dissapointed I am with a negative. A loss would really be terrible. Are you going to try with the clomid again?

Welcome,
If you are having trouble ovulating you should try Clomid. I wasn't and I tried it and got pregnant, but I lost it a almost 6 weeks...

GOOD LUCK

Hi everyone. I spotted the subject line and thought I'd join, since I'm also 42, trying to conceive my first. I'm in my 2ww waiting to test (on Friday) after our sixth IUI. (First one, a year ago, resulted in ectopic and the loss of my left tube, and we've struck out every time since then, even though I've been on various combinations of Clomid and injectables.) Good luck to us all!

Sorry but I forgot my password and couldn't reply lol! But so far the OPK has not had any positive results. So hopefully this is still a possibility. I will keep posting and hopefully good news soon :)

Welcome, hope we can help out in any way to make this process easier for you.  Im 36 and have been having a bit of a hard time conceiving after a miscarriage in March.  But we are still TTC!

Hi,

I'm 40 and pregnant with no. 2.  Likely I'll still want to try for no. 2 at 42!  Chances of all being fine are very good.

Just make sure you're healthy to begin with.

Best wishes

Hello there and welcome!  You are in the right place and certainly not alone in this. I am 41 with an 8 month old and very much want to try for a second.  There are many of us here in the same boat.  Don't let the negatives you hear frighten you.  The reality is most babies are born healthy, and if there is an potential issue there are all kinds of testing you can have to find out.  Good luck to you!!
