Nathan Gehrig is here!!

Hey Everyone.. thank your for the wonderfuls wishes and prayers..  My water broke at about 10:15 Tuesday night but the contractions never started so Wed morning they started the pitocin.  Even with the pitocin, I wasn't going into labor so they kept upping the dosage.  Finally things got started.. It took hours for me to go from 2cm to 5cm and then within 1 hour I went from 5cm to 10cm with baby at +2 station.

All, I don't know how I got so lucky and so blessed twice in a row.. I have done nothing in my life to deserve two such perfect and beautiful babies.  I am so blessed.  Little Nathan Gehrig was born at about 2:30 pm, 4lbs 11 ozs and 19 inches long. He came out and started crying like good boy.. before they took him to NICU, I got to hold him for a pretty good while.. He was active, altert and responsive. I'm just so happy to be his mommy.

He is in NICU and breathing on his own. The dr said we might try to feed him tomorrow.  If anybody had a 33 or 34 wk baby, I would love to know how long your baby had to stay at the hospital before you got to bring him/her home.

Congratulations!  I have been thinking about you and am so glad that all went well with your sweet baby boy!  I love the name Nathan (it is my DS's name too :))-I think every hospital is different when it comes to letting babies go home.  My SIL had my niece at 35 weeks.  The baby was little 4lbs-but was absolutely perfect and needed no help with breathing or anything-they let her go home on time with my SIL.  Congrats again!  Suzanne

My son was born at 32 weeks and was in the NICU a month. Weighed 3lbs. 10oz. He was not breathing well at birth. He improved very fast. Only on the ventilater 1 day, CPAP 1 day then breathing on his own. He stayed in an incubator until he could regulate he body temp for almost 2 weeks then was moved to an open crib. Our NICU has extremely high standards your baby must meet before going home. It was a tough month but well worth it to bring home a healthy baby.
Congratulations!!!!! Hope he is doing well!!!
