Help, 6 weeks pregnant debilitating morning sickness

I am 6 weeks pregnant and am so incredibly sick. It never goes away. I wake up extremely nauseus, throw up acid because I cannot eat or drink anything. I was sick in my first pregnancy like this ALL 9 MONTHS! I was sick with my third pregnancy like this until 7 months because they were twins. Why is this happening again? I really want to have this baby but this is wearing on my physical and mental health. I feel hopeless and exhausted all the time. Has anyone else ever been this sick all the time with no let up on symptoms? Did you start to feel hopeless? Please help. The meds make me feel even worse.

Oh I am so sorry for what you're going through. All I can say is that I empathize. I really hope it doesn't last too long for you this time. The only thing that helped me even a little bit was acupuncture. I asked my acupuncturist to do specific points for the nausea as well as for anxiety. I had a lot of anxiety and I believe it made my nausea worse.

It's hard to stay positive when you feel so relentlessly awful. On some days I would just say to h*** with it and let myself have a full-blown pity party, cry as much as I wanted and the whole 9 yards. It seemed like a certain food would help for awhile, such as saltines, and then I'd wake up one day and that food would be out of the question. So I just kept experimenting and changing it up.

For less intense days, I found that the Preggie Pops helped me. On the bad days, I did a lot of lying very still. :P

Hi there, Spring

I'm sorry to hear you've been so terribly sick with your pregnancies. I was fortunate enough to suffer for only 6 weeks, but I found my "magic bullet" and I thought I would tell you about it, in case it might help you.

I sucked on Gin Gins hard candies (www.gingerpeople.com) whenever I was nauseated, and they were a life saver!

Hope it gets better for you, and you can be comfortable. Hang in there!

haha mamom15, i know what you mean!!!! i have "puke" bags in my purse, car, everywhere i go! and have thrown up in front of everyone- one time i threw up thought i was ok, and we had company over and then it happened so suddenly again and i thre up on myself - so embarrassing!   and yes my poor teeth are sooo sensitive now.. i'm scared to go to the dentist after i have her!     I would ask your dr for stronger medicine if you cant get your prenatal down.. also, after taking my nausea medicine, i would wait a few hours and take my pills, and then drink a fortified protein shake - it helped with weight gain and i'm sure babies nutirtion too hopefully!

I wish I had some good advice to give you.  Although I was super nauseous my whole first trimester, it was nothing like what you are experiencing.  The only suggestion I would make is to keep talking to your OB.  There are several different meds you can take that are safe for baby and hopefully one of them will work.  Good luck, I hope this passes soon.

Hi

I know what you mean, I am 12 weeks pregnant and I cannot function.  I am embarrassed to go out in public because I walk around with a towel and a tub which my Ob gave me.  Yesterday I went to get a hair cut and threw up in the parking lot.  I throw up about 4 times a day.  No signs of it going away. Does your mouth taste bitter and sour all the time, I cannot taste a thing.  I feel bloated, find food repulsive and my teeth feel weird.  Other than the fact I am tired from throwing up all the time.
Like bny I took zofran but did not help , for the last 10 days I have started with Onadistron which dissolves in my mouth and that has helped.  My quanity of throw up is less.
Ladies, I have 1 question.  I cannot swallow a thing so taking my prenatals become impossible including folic acid, what do I do ?

I completely understand!!!! i am 37 weeks and had hyperemesis since 5 1/2 weeks! i kept thinking it woudl go away at 12 weeks, maybe 14, maybe 24.. and just gave up on thinking it will go away- i spent all night last night throwing up and feeling sooo nauseated i just cant function.. I lost 5lbs last week from just being sick, and it defintely gets hard to force yourself to continue eating when you feel so bad and it likely will come back up anyways!   I do take 12.5mg of phenergan (normal dose is usually 25 mg but it makes me toooo sleepy) and it does help for sure.. i just hate taking anything.. zofran which works wanders for so manyh people just didnt help me one bit.... are you taking anything? Its all sooo worth it in the end, but there are defintely days that i feel like i am going to loose my mind, and think the pleasure of eating is done for me forever!!  GOod luck, and congrats on the pregnancy!

When I was pregnant with my son I was sick up until the day I delivered. It was horrible. I was throwing up 4-5 times a day, constantly nauseated, and just plain feeling like ****, LOL Each day was a struggle to force myself to eat and some days it was a struggle to even function. I was so tired and worn out all the time and then there was the worry about my baby not getting enough nutrients and that just added the emotional strain to the already physical. But you know what? The minute I saw that beautiful little boy, it was all worth it. I would go through it a hundred times to see that innocent little face. I know it feels horrible right now, but it's only nine months compared to a lifetime with your child. Try and stay positive and think about WHY you are doing this and what a precious gift you will be gaining when it is over.
