Well, today was my day!

I posted a while back about my being 40 (and never imagined that I would be single and childless at this age) and considering artifical insemination.  Well, after much though and testing beyond  belief, today we did the insemination.  I am very fortunate to have an FSH of 7.5 and have all of my blood work and ultrasounds come back perfect, so I decided to give it a whirl.  My doctor said that I'm as fertile as a 20 year old and was on fence as to whether to use fertility drugs or not, but decided to for that "extra boost" as she called it.  I spent countless hours on sperm bank web sites before finally choosing one - sometimes a girl can have too many option - is was really hard to choose.

I have only told a couple of my close friends, one who is done having children and one who does not want children, and feel like I've talked their ears off, so now I'm moving on to you ladies!  I also think it will be helpful to communicate with others who can relate to what I'm going through.

Wishing you wonderful news.

I can truly say that the decision to have a child by myself was very hard but also so very rewarding.  It has changed my life immeasurably and only in good ways.  I hope that my daughter will see things the same way.
