Questions regarding liftiing heavy things, etc....

I am 10 weeks, and go to the doctor in 3 more weeks. I have a question I thought I would ask others that have already been and have had these converstations with their doctor already.

At my job, we sometimes have to set up our meeting rooms for events. That consists of moving many, MANY, 8x11' tables all around, and a lot of chairs. They are not light, since they are sturdy office type chairs and tables, not plastic. I know we're not suppossed to lift things over what, 30lbs? but what about pushing, dragging, pulling them all around. Any insight would be helpful. I could call my doctor to ask, but thought I would try here first instead of bothering her with a non-emergency type question.

Thanks! :)

Just use common sense, if it's too heavy to lift, don't.

much depends on how much activity you did before you got pregnant.
my doctors have told me to use common sense and not do anything my body is not used to.
i was able to continue running most of my first trimester, but have had to switch to walking in the second because my back has been sore.
i lift heavy things at work, but nothing that makes me uncomfortable.
obviously if you have any spotting, bleeding or they find your cervix has issues, then it changes things quite a bit.  but for most of us we can resume normal activities without too many problems.

hi i am not a doctor but a mother of four kids well it would have been five i lost one . my youngest son elijah is now elevan months old . when i was around my 12 week mark me and my oldest son was rearranging his bedroom . knowing not to pick up anything we thought pushing his very heavy dresser would be best . an hour later  i began to bleed very heavy so i rushed to the er they told me i had a tear in my uterus and was placed on bedrest . i was on bedrest for some time but a gave birth in aug. to a healthy baby boy . in jan . of this year i found out i was pregnant again . i continued with my everyday life . then at 11 weeks i found out once again i had a tear in my uterus .i was told not to lift anything over 0 pounds .yeah tell that to five month old . needless to say at 12 in a half weeks i went into preterm labor and the baby passed . please dont let this scare but you have that motherly instinct already if something tells you you shouldnt do DONT listen to your body . but pushing and pulling is not alot different then lifting it all uses the same muscles . good luck i hope the best for you and your family
