m/c & sex

I just read on another website that you aren't supposed to have sex or use tampons for two weeks after an m/c because of risk of infection. This never occurred to me and my OB didn't mention it. Has anyone else been told by a doctor to avoid sex? I m/cd a week ago and my cervix is still high and feels open. Is this normal? It would take me months to get an appointment with an OB here, so I was wondering if I should be worried?

I was told that after both my D&C's.  This one I was told no problem, bleeding still or not. OB told me not to even worry about waiting a cycle.  Mind you, I was only a little past 4 weeks, so I think they still consider that a chemical pregnancy.  I think the most important thing is to make sure you are aware of any sign of infection...foul smell, etc.  But if you didn't have to have meds or surgical intervention, I would not be too concerned about it.

I've been told no sex while you're still bleeding.  I've haven't heard of waiting two weeks.  I'm pretty sure after the bleeding stops, you're good.  I've had four m/c and always followed this.  Here I am, still alive and infection free. =)

I think it's after you have a D&C.
