I agree that sometimes the weight they estimate is not always correct, and most of the time it makes no difference on the size of the baby as to whether you rip or tear. My first son was only 4lb 14oz and I needed an episiotomy! He was stuck and just would not come out. Then my last son was only 5lb 13oz and I had 2 small tears. My sister on the other hand had a baby that was 8lb 12oz and she had no tears! Don't worry too much about it, what will be will be, and the midwives will deal with whatever has to be done to deliver your baby safely.
Remember that the weight is just an educated guess. They can't actually weigh the baby, they base it off a standard of measurement against the bones and stomach size. I'm being told my baby is big also, but my husband is a tall man so babies bones are measuring big. Also remember that if you want to have a vaginal birth you go for it, you absolutely do not have to have a c-section unless baby or you are in distress of some sort. Which does include baby not fitting thru the birth canal, but there are a ton of exercises that you can do to prepare your body. Google. I do the bare minimum but its something. Don't worry, and good luck hon!
My baby was tiny 6lbs 6oz, I ripped and got an episiotomy. However the first Dr didn't believe in perinium massage and with my labor going so quick 6hrs start to finish I never had the opportunity to stretch. This Dr does the massage and encourages your partner to start a couple weeks early to help avoid.
They will keep a close eye on things for you..connect with Dr or Midwife to see what you can do now to help facilitate delivery of your beautiful baby and if they participate in holistic intervention such as perinium massage. All the best!
My first delicery was like camrystangs, I had a 8.6lb baby born vaginally and Dr gave my an episiotomy. Only difference was I got an epidural.
I delivered my first with a horrible doctor. He cut me even though I told him I didn't want to be no matter what. My baby was 8 pounds 8 Oz.
I've delivered three other with no issues or tearing.
Midwives are fantastic at helping your body do what it is meant to do. For prospective, my good friend recently delivered are 11.5 pound baby, naturally, with no tearing or cutting. Her midwife used perineal massage and talked her through slowing pushing him.
You don't need a rend c section or cut for a big baby. You just need a patient and encouraging person to help you deliver.
My first baby was 8 lbs 7 oz. I had her natural with my dr. performing an episiotomy. My son was 9 lbs 8 oz. I had him natural as well. I tore slightly with him, but he came so fast after just 2 pushes. I'm sure you will be just fine. Your dr. or midwife will be there to assist.
