Progeterone and Pregnancy

I'll be 2 months pregnant tomorrow and I'm 43 years old.  On occasion, I've had a brownish discharge.  My dtr. gave me a RX for progesterone suppositories yesterday.  He also informed me that I believe my Progesterone level was about 21.  Would taking this medicine harm the baby or cause my level to drop?

Thanks for the information.  I'm a little rusty with being a mom again.  Our daughter will be 15 years old in July.  We're hoping for a son.

Hi there.  Progesterone supplements are common in us "older" pregnant moms.  I take it myself. First off, brown spotting is usually nothing to worry about.  It happens to alot of us, and as long as your HCG levels increased as they should, all is well.  Progesterone supplements will increase your progesterone levels and will not harm your baby.  Our bodies produce progesterone naturally, and the level increases when we are pregnant (it's what's causing the majority of your pregnancy symptoms).  As we get older, we sometimes don't produce enough on our own, so the supplements become necessary.  Congratulations to you, and good luck!!!
