older kids present for the birth?

I'm 38 weeks @ age 41, baby #5 for me #5 for my new husband this is #9 all together! "the tie that binds?" Anyway, my 13 yo wants to be in the room or at least the hospital to be there when she is born. i have mixed feelings on this. Anyone have a story to share about your older kids being present?

My 16 yr old daughter wants to be in the room with me but I called the hospital and asked and they said no one under 18. You may want to check with your hospital first if you haven't done so already. You may not even have to make a decision on it. If so it may be a great experience for her and also a great birth control! Just saying!!!

i think its weird..to see your mothers vagina and see the baby pop out.. i'm sorry, but i do think its weird...i would be very uncomfortable with that.. i wouldn't ever even consider giving birth with my mom in the room..never mind kids... i think its something shared between a mother and a father.. no one else..they'll see birth when they have their own kids.. nothing fascinating to see there..it'll just be awkward

Hi, my sister, brother and I were in the room when our youngest sister was born. I was 16 my sister was 13 and my brother was 10. My sister and I actually watched the birth my brother did not. For me it was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved it. Such a special experience to be able to see my sister being born. Good luck with whatever you decide.
