Hey all just went to my dr. I am 21w 5d and I have gained 15lbs (taking into account that I gained 6 in the 3 weeks of christmas and new years ;P )... I told dr that I was concerned as 2 years ago I lost 100lbs and don´t want to see it all come back... She said I was right on and not to worry. I gained 3 lbs in the last 3 weeks and I don´t want to gain a pound a week till the end. I am aiming for 1/2lb a week which would bring me to exactly 25lbs total. Yesterday I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 1/2 hour and I am trying to tame my eating some. My appitiet isn´t as bad now as it was aroung 15-20 weeks... sooooo where areyou all at?
you are doing great!!! I on the otherhand am only 9wks 5 days and have gained 10lbs!!!! And.....I had an additional 10 from my last pregnancy that I left on to better my chances at getting prego!!!! I always gain 45-60lbs. Don't know what it is....I like to eat. I am trying this one but I am not even walking b/c it is so darn cold and also don't want to chance a miscarriage (again). :( It is all for the baby!!!
I thought I was gonna be one of those 25 pounders, but I've already passed that up a couple of weeks ago. Hope you have better luck than me :)
They say breast feeding helps take off the preggo weight. I'm hoping that works for me. I haven't gained a ton or anything, but I'd like to fit back into my own cloths eventually. :)
Well, I'm now 20w4d and I've gained 12 pounds. I'm really worried I'll gain more than 25 pounds all in all. I am really careful in what I'm eating and I did start going back to the gym. Hopefully, 30 pounds will be the max I'll gain altogether! When are we suppose to start gaining 1 pound/week? And why 1 pound?? Is it all baby weight?
You are doing great!! I wish I were. At 28 and 1 day I have gained 26 lbs,but at my last dr appt I had only put on 1 lb in a month, so hopefully my decrease in appitite will help.
ahh but I was a size 14 before the baby... not skinny by any means haha,... the dr said 25 is perfectPerfect choice... but.. uggg just want to know much REALLY comes off after deliveryC-section Delivery presentations Infant care following delivery??? is 15 baby placenta fluid... what??? I know the web sites say one thing but what is the real deal??? maybe shesherm can enlighten us
Great link with the by-pound explanation of placenta and everything, as well as a chart that shows you by week what the trend is and if your particular gain is under or over the avg.
For me, I'm 23w2d and I've gained 10lbs, but like meli I was a size 14 to begin with so I"m pryaing to keep gain below 25lbs.
What I want to know is what trimester has the most gain? I think it's the second. I think in the 9th month you don't really gain anymore but I could be hallucintaing, too.
I agree with DML100607. Weight gain should be not be a driving factor or daily concern while pregnant . . . the health of the baby should be. Some women can eat perfectly healthy and still gain more than 25-35 pounds, depending on how big baby is (mine were 9 1/2 and 10 1/2 pounds), and how much your body needs to put on to make sure baby is healthy. Deal with the weight after baby is born, you can always take it back off with good diet and exercise, plus breastfeeding is a great way to lose some of that weight too. I lost 25 pounds in the first few days and 10 more pounds within the first few weeks after having my 10 1/2 pound baby. Eat healthy, moderate exercise, focus on baby's health and don't worry about your weight, baby should come first. (22w3d, baby #3)
I am 27w4d and have gained 6 pounds. I was already overweight*up two sizes from my norm) when I started, but this really surprises me. I am all belly now. I know the baby is healthy and getting what he needs, and only wanted to gain 15 by the end, but never thought it would happen. I eat healthy (most of the time, hehe), and have to really watch what I eat due to gd. There is nothing wrong with watching your diet when you are pregnant, everything you read tells you to. As long as we aren't eating junk all the time I think everything will be good. I don't believe it is healthy to gain a lot of weight during pregnancy due to all the complication that come along with it, unless you are underweight to start with.
Oooooo, the night weight or the morning weight? Well, I think I've gained about 6 lbs. ONLY because I started about 12 lbs heavy, then was sick and lost a couple then gained it back and then some on top of that. It's there, it's just shifted. I have REALLLLY been trying to watch my weight. I got out of bed 2x last night tempted to put a hand full of peanut M&M's in my mouth because I felt I couldn't go to bed without chocolate. I could eat dessert breakfast, lunch & dinner. (seriously) I want donuts, key lime pie's, chocolate, pound cake, ice cream w/hot fudge...... I gained 5 last month so I know it's going to come fast & heavy now that I've started the trend. Although I'm 23 weeks today, I am carrying this baby very differently. I don't know if that's true about how you carry & the sex because I have a dd and we chose not to find out the sex of this one.
So I think i have everyone beat!.....25weeks and have gained 35 lbs. Now luckily I only have 10-12 weeks to go and don't have to make it to 40wks but good gosh i'm miserable. I make hubby turn around at the Dr office for that part and have to giggle about it! My Dr says 50-60 lbs w/ twins but I really hope i don't reach that! My favorite is when hubby tries to make me feel better and says ..."I think your butt is smaller" then I remind him that NO that just a disillusion and that it appears this way b/c the rest of me is so much larger! LOL. I'm praying to the breastfeeding gods that it works for me!!! :)
I'm up around 16 pounds at 22weeks,4 days. I was pretty small to begin with. Also, all the weight (40+ lbs) with DD came off within three months + another five pounds so I'm not too worried about it.
I've also been pretty lazy. With 10 mcs in a row in the past two years, I'm not taking any chances with this one!
ive only gained 13 pounds. i started at 172 am now 185 im 30 weeks. baby is 3 pounds 5 ounces two days ago. i was already fat. im not on a diet i just cut out most of the junk food. i eat three meals and snack mostly at night.
i gained 23 pounds with addy (of course she was born early) and my dr said its not necessary to gain a certain amount of weight (of course if youwere very thin maybe more is needed) but that you eat healthy. i was chunky to begin with, and the weight came off within a month of giving birth but i have gained a few back lol. darn holidays!! i was obsessed though, but i didnt diet, just ate when hungry and not just because i was pg haha. we are all different on how fast it comes off too. all drs are different but mine said keep it at 27 pounds and it will be all baby weight.
I am not as worried about weight gain - I just want to stay fit while I am preggy. I feel better when I exercise and I know that staying active will make my pregnancy/delivery/ and post-pregnancy better all around. The problem is I feel AWFUL!! With DD I only had morning sickness in the evening. Now I feel horrible all day long and I continually eat in hopes that I feel better!! I make healthy decisions - only one run to Taco Bell thus far - but it has been hard to stay active. ANY ADVICE?? What types of exercise is everyone else doing?

Im also told that the majority of the weight by the third trimester is mostly fluids and actual weight of the baby.
My main concern is keeping the baby healthy....I'll worry about my pre-preggo weight later. Everyone's different...as long as you're eating healthy and not tons of junk....you really have no control how your body will respond to the weight gain.
