Failure rate of Tubal Ligation? for Dr.

I just recently had a tubal ligation done 7 months ago during the c-section birth of my 4th child.  I have had 4 c-sections and am 39 yrs old.  I am beginning to have some regret over it, and was wondering what you believe the failure rate to be?  I don't think I would go as far as a tubal reversal since I have had 4 sections already and I doubt I'd pursue IVF.  Just wishful thinking I guess.  My dr told me "he took out only a tiny portion of the narrow part of each tube closest to the uterus".  I would assume thats the isthmic part?  Anyhow, thank you for your time

Thanks Sheri!  I didn't know how it all worked, just signed up yesterday.  Yep, thats what I read too.  I probably just leave well enough alone, 4's good and I'm feeling my age these days...LOL.  Thanks so much.

Hi there!

There are typically no doctors on this forum, which is why people probably haven't answered.  You can ask the question over in the forum where doctors answer your medical questions specifically.  I don't rightly remember the name of the specific forum but if you look through all the topics, you should find it.

Just off the cuff, and I'm no medical doctor, I would think the failture rate of a tubal is very, very low.  I googled it and read that one study showed the failure rate to be about 1.4%.
