I rented one at 10 weeks from Belly Beats and used it until I was about 20 weeks. I LOVED it!
I also had a little bit of a hard time finding the hb until around 12 weeks. At 10-11 weeks I had to search for about 5 minutes or less to find it.
I did wait to use mine and I am now 11 weeks. I still don't think I am finding the hb. I thought I heard it briefly but could not get a reading on the heart rate. I was worried so I called my dr...she said it was fine and that 11 weeks is still early, not to worry. Well of course I am still worried but I have a scan in a week. I hope I can hold out until then. Did anyone else have trouble finding the heart beat at 11 weeks?
I rented one from babybeat.com and it was a cheap one where you have to count the beats. It worked great though, had no problem finding h/b. You can rent a digital one but it's more expensive.
I rented one online from a company called Dynamic Dopplers. It is $22 per month for the one that does not display heartbeat, $45 for the one that does - to buy them they are around $400. I rented from there because you don't have to show proof of authorization from your ob/gyn, although, I talked to my dr. about it and she was ok with it. It is exactly like the one she uses for my office visits. I was able to pick up babies heartbeat with it around 10 weeks. It has been very reassuring to have. I am now a little over 20 weeks and don't use it quite as much, but refuse to send it back just yet :)
I also have the pink one from EBAY. It is 3MhZ and I was able to get a reading at about 11 weeks. I find it quite useful, but as soon as I started to feel the baby (19 weeks) I stopped using it. Mine was about 100 and took a few weeks for delivery.
I just purchased mine from Amazon. It is the dame as Amandas...I am 9w5d so I haven't tried it out yet. I don't want to stress myself if I can't find the hb right away. I think I may wait til I am over 10 weeks.
Good luck in finding one!
I also rented one from Stork Radio for the first two trimesters. It helped me feel so much better. I had real bad anxiety and it helped w/ that as well. Once I got to where I was feeling baby move all the time I sent it back. Sometimes I still wish I had kept it longer.
I rented one for like $15 or $20 per month from StorkRadio.com. I love it. The one I got is the same one my midwife uses, as it turns out. If you want a model that counts heartbeats for you, they are more expensive to rent.
I absolutely love having it. I was checking about twice a week, from about 15 weeks on. Now the baby is very active so I only check if he's having a "mellow" day, which is about once a week. :)
I use one I bought off of ebay. I love it!! I don't have the packing anymore and it doesn't have the brand name on the doppler, but it does say Pocket Fetal Doppler, 3mghz. It was available in blue, pink or orange, and it was around $100.00 It also has a digital readout. Even my Dr. said it was a good one when I took it into her to teach me how to use it. I will warn you though, in the early stages it could cause a bit of stress. Once he got a bit bigger and I got better at using it it was the best purchase I could have made. Good luck to you.
