If you work, what do you do for a living?

Just wondering what everyone does for a living.

I have always wondered if I should go on bedrest once I get pregnant again. My career is very stressful and demanding. I am an investigator in Dallas for insurance companies in collateral recovery. Even when I am at home, my company cell rings and I am doing work from home as well :/ i am one of those crazy people who really loves their job, but I have always wondered if I just should have stayed at home when I was pregnant all those times before. I make decent money, but going on disability at work does pay but 60% of my income.

I am in Customer Service for a company called Hillyard. Were in janitorial supplies but specialize in floor care. I answer phones and do all kinds of data entry and do billing if needed. I probably get paid the least out of everyone else at this branch too...even though I know more then a lot of people. Especially since were the "backbone" of the company..I really want to get another job though...I'm starting to get sick of this same ol same ol crud! I work full time but bring home only about $1300 a month. Don't ask me where the money goes though! I don't think I could do what you do. I would never answer my work phone when I am home because duh...I am at home...I am not on the clock so FOOEY!

I need to get my butt into college ASAP!

I am a Retention Specialist for a New England based alarm company,  It is extremely stressfull. I get yelled at by disgruntled customers on a regular basis, and its my job to calm them down and resolve the issues. I used to love my job before i got pregant but now not so much  it's just too much stress.
We have already decided that i wont be going back to that job when my maternity leave is through,

I am a Personal Account Associate for a company owned by Goldman Sachs. I mainly pay bills for clients that are the heads of Fortune 500, 1000, & 2000 companies all over the world. It is quite interesting to see exactly what people spend money on and how much of it they have to spend. They are all billionaires and millionaires.
I do enjoy my job, but it can be very stressful!

I work as a "Patient access representative" (fancy name for patient registrar) at a pretty large hospital/clinic.. I really like it but now that Im 34 weeks pregnant and in pain constantly it gets really tiring because Im running around a lot.  We basically get phone calls from nursing units about patients that are being admitted, its our job to get them in the system and then go to their room and verify their information, copy their insurance card, and put a wrist band on them once they get to the hospital.  It's exciting because I get to work in a lot of different places throughout the hospital and deal with a lot of different things (yesterday I got to help a little boy find his mommy :D) Its something different and excitinge everyday.

Im Office Manager/Sales. The company i work for represents different manufactures of Heating systems ( water heaters, boilers, pool heaters and more). I do everything from helping customers on the phone when they call asking for pricing, part numbers or any information pertaning our products. I do warranties for the office, i do receiving, confirm shipping for accounting. Make sure the office is well stock with office suplplies and more. Yup its alot work but i love it and it sure pays well. They have been great to me these past 4 years and its going to suck when i leave :(  October 31st is my last day, for good. It ***** because they were willing to work with me after the baby is born, like after maternity leave start in by coming like half days, bring the baby to work with me. Anything i wanted but we are leaving the state so there goes that. Its so hard to find a great company to work for now a days.

Jame0223- How do you work for 1300 a month? How long have you been working there for? I would look for a different job if i were you. Im not sure how pay is were you live but i was making 1300 a month maybe 8-10 years ago. I hope you can find something else that pays you more for all that you do.

I'm a Social Worker at an HIV/AIDS clinic.  I basically help link my clients to resources in the area.  If they don't have insurance (which most of my client don't) then I help them with getting their medical care, labwork and medications paid for through a federal grant program.  I have a great working environment, they are very understanding when it comes to anything.  I don't have any leave pay because we are a small non-profit organization and don't have disability.  But I am gaurunteed the 12 weeks off, which I will probably only take 8, just depends on the amount of vacation and sick time I've built up.

I have been working here for a about a year and a half...at the beginning of the year they gave me a $.25 raise..wooh! I started off here at 9...I was part time as my mom's assistant in billing and A/R. I went full time a year ago (sept 10) and got raised to 10$. Since Jan they have to give you a raise for umm cost of living i think, they gave me a quarter! The girl that does the same thing as me worked here and guit right before I started part time then she came back about 3 or 4 months after I went full time...and she gets more then I do. Probably like 12$ and I know how to do a lot more then her...Its because I am only 19 that they don't take me as serious...My mom was getting paid 15 when she found out a coworker who is of the same importance but just got hired on was making 22. She threatened to quit if they didnt match their pay and they did. My mom's job isn't even twice as hard as mine...but she's been here for almost 9 years. I am getting tired of working here though...I want to make more money.

Hey but Steven (my boyfriend) makes even less then I do...like 1000-1100 a month! He works at a car dealership that rakes him over the coals and does so much bad things to him, but he just takes it. He knows he needs a better job but hes too lazy to find one it seems...its annoying how he never has any money for anything! We never have any money...

I was a first grade teacher in the public school system, but am "retired" (hahaha... only did it for 2 years and thought I was going to shoot myself!).

My husband and I are both Realtors and I LOVE what I do now.  It is awesome.  And, no... the housing market in Tucson was not as drastically effected as parts of California, Nevada, and Phoenix.  But, forclosures are in every neighborhood, which is always soo sad to see.

Currently I work as a Benefits Specialist, for a Large Shoe Store company.  I get employees calls asking benefits questions, I'm the dept. slave I do all the stupid labels, copies, faxes etc. and I counsel employees about maternity leave etc. It *****.
I got here cause I needed a job to buy a house and I really want to teach Social Studies of history in Public School.  I know you guys may think that that job is probably worse. But I think it would be great, I am very passionate about social science, thats what my degree is in and I like to explain things to people and counsel.  And I like teenagers or I mostly just feel sorry for them.  The time is flexible and I'd get to go on a 2 month vacation :)  so that's what I'm going to concentrate on doing is teaching middle school social studies :)

Wow...its not fair at all that they have new people coming in making more. You should get that raise, being that you know more and been there longer (oh yeah but not a quarter raise, what the hell is that) So many companys dont aapreciate who they have working for them. I would look for something different with out them knowing and if you do get another job that pays more i would tell your job now this is what im asking for if i cant get it then, im leaving right this second, again make sure you have something lined up. Age shouldnt matter, theres 30 year old people out there that are less responsible than a 19 year old.
And your BF makes less... you cant make him want to do something he doesnt, but you can for sure help yourself. Look for something better. Goodluck!!!!

I agree I need to get a better job. My dad hates our company because its so cheap...they don't do anything for the employees. We get company lunches like 3 times a year...its just ridiculous how cheap they are..they don't let you have overtime. I have one week paid vacation but  no personal days. I got to find out when I can get my 2 days! lol I just used up all my vacation for the surgery I had, even though I only had 2 days left. The only good thing is that we do get a lot of holidays I guess...Any national holiday we have off like in school and its paid. I never really found out how long maternity leave would be(never got far enough). I am just so sick of sitting at a desk with a phone attached to my ear for **** for money!

I'm an third grade teacher...I will have my sick time to cover like 4 weeks (I've tried to save up my sick days over the last four years but I've had to take like 4 weeks off over the last four years due to injury, illness and my mom had brain surgery and I was her caretaker)  so I could have had 8 weeks paid but now I have 4...oh well...AND in MA you can't use disability insurance here for pregnancy so even though we had AFLAC and some other places come and offer us disability, it didn't cover pregnancy although that is the only thing I would have wanted it for...I love my job but it is very demanding so I hope I can be ready to return to work when I need to.  LUCKILY I am due in April, during a school vacation then four weeks will bring me to around June 1st...and DH and I will probably save a bit so I can take 6 weeks and not have to go back until September (Summer vacation starts the second week of June).

I work with 13 16 month to 2 1/2 year olds.....talking about demanding.  My company pays 50 dollars toward health insurance only if you are a full time employee.  They just cut hours of 3 of us and out of 9 people they only 50 dollars toward one person.  They cut my because they simply can't afford it but yet they only pay it for one person.I will never understand.

Well I am an LPN, been doing that for 9years, i just graduated in May from the RN program but i have not yet taken my boards yet  (ive been to consumed into ttc after my m/c in june).  I am self employeed, i basicly have one client that i have been with for 5 years, i go to the client house and take care of the client, she is 12yrs old and cant doing anything for herself and needs skilled nursing care. She is like a daughter to me, so even on my off days i will do little things if the mom needs me to pick up her medication etc,(mom doesnt have a car and its just her and the daughter in the home) I love what i do, when i pass my boards i will do the same thing as an RN, it is so relaxing, and i am not one for stress, thats why i will never work in a nursing home again, and i dont want to work in a hospital. (its like why work with 5-6 patients in a hospital when i can work with 1 for 3 dollars less) The down side to what i do is there is no benefits, so i purchase insurance threw blue cross blue sheild. When i got preggo in april, here in wisconsin they passed some type of law, so i was able to get badger care for my pregnancy term, now since im not preggo i dont have it anymore. Far as vacation time, since ive been with my client for so long, she does not mind me taking vacation time, i jus let her no 3 months in advance and then the mom sends her daughter to a day care service for handicapped kids when im gone or take off. I just took a vacation august 2 up until now, i go back to work tuesday.(was visiting DF ttc, but BFN's, so i have to wait until he moves here in October) So being self employed sorta makes you manange your money right, because i have to pay taxes out of the checks i get from medicare, the state is the ones who reimburses me for the services i provide. DF is still in school but graduates Oct 26 in Biomedical Engineering Technology, so once i get preggo, im taking off work a year. And my client is ok with that. And i plan on dropping my insurance once DF gets a job:))

Im a Human Resources Manager.  We have 700+ employees and we do all here (recruitment, insurance, trainings, etc) . I've worked here for 6 1/2  years and I love it!
We get 14 vacation (labor) days.  Its a cigars company and we're currently making 1 million cigars every month.
Our maternity leave in DR is 12 paid weeks.
Insurance is pretty good, we can use both social insurance and medical insurance together and get a great coverage!
The bad stuff is that I get to see my girl late, I cant go home for lunch either, but other than that, I think Im very lucky to have my job! :)

I don't work but am a full time college student...it was a hard choice to make at age 31 but now that I am in my second year I realize how much I love it. I had a part time job over the summer but couldn't handle 5 classes, 25-30 hours a week working and being pregnant...oi it was not fun.
