And when I'm hungry I get nauseous anyways so what the difference. I'm not trying to stir any controversy up. It just seems dumb to me

Well if I was gonna be given pitocin at 6 I understand, but I'm not lol cause I'd be going into labor pretty quick. The cervadil can take up to 12 hours to work and I'm a total birch when I'm hungry. Any other mommy's eat before an induction? How'd that work out

You could've just ate a big meal and go into labor naturally, but if it's planned no eating?

It's cuz they can't control if u go into labor naturally or even know wen exactly u will go into labor...nd wen u get induced they have u hooked up to machines so it's hard for u to Ger up nd go to the restroom nd they dnt want u to poop urself so they tell u not to eat cuz once they do start the pitocin u shud have already had a bowel movement which shud be the last thing u ate at midnight nd the won't have to worry bout u having one during the pitocin since ur not able to get out of bed once they start it..sorry so long just letting u know everything they told me wen I was induced cuz I certainly asked questions bout everything they did nd why lol hope this helps

Just eat if you're hungry lol, I ate a big breakfast right before heading in for my induction at the direction of my doctor and the l&d nurses. You don't know how long you're going to be in labor and they won't let you eat at the hospital. I always snuck snacks though :)

Eat b4 you go.. otherwise you might not be eating for 24-36 hours( at least ) the hospital staff wouldn't let my sister eat until 24 hours after birth I thought it was pretty stupid /:

I totally ate the morning of my induction, I was eating a dunkin doughnuts breakfast sandwich in the parking lot of the hospital lol I think they tell you not to eat so you don't throw up or in case you end up needing a c section..I throw up though when I'm in labor so may as well enjoy some breakfast!

It doesn't matter if you get a section, you can still eat cause they hardly do general anesthetic nowadays. I was in at 1030am on the wed and had pancakes and syrup before i went in, had a chicken sandwich and salad for lunch, and vegetarian haggis, mash potato and turnip for dinner at 530, waters were broke at 730 and although i didnt eat anything else i drank loads, got my emergency section at 0529 and was given toast and yogurt at 8am. They only don't let you eat here if a general anesthetic is used, but food doesn't affect an epidural or that x

I think you'll be okay. I ate whataburger while in the hospital room. You'll probably throw it up...or poop on yourself during delivery though.

I think a lot of women throw up and poop themselves during labor though

Right. So it's not a big deal. Eat while you can.

My doc told me to eat before I was induced! And I just started on Pitocin. I wasn't able to because my Hubs was too lazy to drive to the other side of town and get me some food before we went up but I wish I had! The jacka** ate all day with me laying there starving. I coulda killed him. lol

Tay - that would be my worst nightmare lol. I was awake almost 50 hours in hospital, i had breakfast before i went in then they gave me the rest. During labour they don't encourage meals, but snacks, energy bars, chocolate, crisps, sandwiches, they encourage you to eat x

I think they normally do it for the purpose of incase they need to do an emergency c section the food in your stomach could react bad with anesthesia and there's be more problems than anything. But I didn't get it either they starve you the whole time you labor and then you get sick and weak and they say time to cut you open then since you're too weak to push baby out! Doesn't add up if you ask me
