Any experienced moms? What are "must have" items for your new born? Or the 1st baby year? I'm only 8 weeks and this is my 1st pregnancy! Just wanted opinions on items you recommend.

God forbid your child develops colic but if he or she does, go to the pharmacy and get Mylicon Drops.
My second child developed colic at 6 weeks old and nothing I did seemed to help. He suffered through it for about 5 weeks before someone recommended it. I wasn't even able to put my child down for days straight because his father left and I didn't have anyone at the time who was willing to help me out. I held him for 5 days straight once, slept sitting up, couldn't shower or feed myself because of the constant crying. After 5 days, my father offered to hold him so I could relax for a few minutes and both of my arms/elbows popped when I tried to straighten my arms after that five day streak. It was horrible watching him suffer that way and nothing I did would comfort him.
I would wish colic or a colicky child on my worst enemy, luckily my BFFs mother had experience with colicky children and she told me to go but some Mylicon and it was a life saver. I gave it to him around 9 am, he started passing gas easily at about 10 and I've never heard anyone fart so much, I started to cry because it was the first time in 5 weeks that my son slept and didn't cry every couple of minutes

bottles
receiving blankets (usually in the hospital)
crib
mattress
sheets
dresser for clothes
play mat
swing
Everything else is optional and completely up to you

The best way is to take other mothers with you to help with your registry. Every mother is different in what worked best for them, and their little one. Other then the main essentials for daily existence most of the list is a want or just to make life easier. I've never used baby powder just A&D ointment. A carrier harness thingy is a want, but they are great to carry them when cleaning the house, or to an outing to the mall. A boppy is a want, but let me tell you, it will save your arms and back. Blankets. The one where you can put them in the car seat and zip the cover up makes buckleing so much easier. Instead of piling on the layers, buckleing them up then blankets on top. Just to much! You'll figure out what works best for you.

I agree with the monitor. I have a video monitor and love it. It gives me peace of mind being able to see her in the crib and know she is alright. Definately a splurge and not a necessity but well worth it in my mind.

On top of the usual, even tho my baby sleeps in the next room I couldn't go without his baby monitor. Gives me peace of mind during the night that I wont sleep through his cries if he needs me and I use it when he naps at my parents and we're bbq'ing outside. Also, a bath thermometer- husband and I could never agree on the right temperature and ours goes green when its right for baby.

Baby wash and boppy! Also I love a wipey warmer! Rocking chair and blankets!

Yea theres alot diapers wipes milk bottles and car seat and definitely swing clothes..

There are not many must haves. Baby items are mostly wants. You need to diaper feed and clothe baby. You will need somthing to sooth baby like a swing and an entertainer for older baby like jumparoo (stand alone not door way kind). The rest is what you want oh ya and you need baby bed...  lol .. can't forget that baby's got to sleep.
