Controversial subject! Alcohol and pregnancy!

Now first and foremost Im gathering opinions! Claws in! Lol

Ok, so Im a wine drinker.  I haven't actually had any since I found out I was pregnant.
My doctor told me the last time I was pregnant that a glass of wine with dinner is harmless. She even told me that "light drinking" during pregnancy is fine. But since everyone has a different opinion of what light means they tell you just not to.
No judgement from me, but does anyone indulge in a glass of wine or a beer now and again? I don't mention liquor for obvious reasons lol
Usually the general consensus is "its bad don't do it".  So is smoking but I always see women smoking while pregnant. My doctor said she'd so much rather see someone drink a glass of wine before smoking a cigarette while pregnant. I find this rather confusing!
How do you feel about light drinking in pregnancy?
Im not so much of a wine drinker I cant wait 9mths,I guess. Im running into a problem though ...I haven't told family yet. My family is big on social drinking and I usually never turn down a glass or two.lol they're gonna suspect something soo . Ha ha
Again, I cannot stress enough that Im just curious and this isn't intended to cause fights!

I have 2 adopted brothers who have fetal alcohol syndrome and so I have been around a lot of people who have similar problems and I just think a drink even once during pregnancy isn't worth putting your baby at risk for something like that. I honestly can't imagine my child being born with a problem...you would always think "did the alcohol I consumed while pregnant cause my baby's problems?" It is worth the wait to ensure the health of your baby and your own peace of mind. At least you know it wasn't something you did if something happens to go wrong. Just my opinion among many others, though.

I would be careful no matter what. The level of light drinking is different in each person. I've worked with a lot of children affected by FAS, and it is heartbreaking. I would listen to your doctor, but be careful.

One glass of wine isnt going to cause any harm... U cant get fas from a glass every now and then... Fas is for alchoholics that cant quit while prego. I have only had one glass this pregnancy but i dont really enjoy drinking anyways.
