From the research and studies I've read. It says there is no certainty of how much alcohol that causes fetal alcohol syndrome. I would just be careful. I don't drink and haven't in quite a few years.
All I can really say is your doctor knows best.
You can buy alcohol free wine and alcohol free lager, its in the alcohol aisles but you can buy it. I had a couple drinks when i was in early stages of pregnancy but purely because i didn't know until i was almost 12 weeks. after i found outing didn't drink. My one exception was with my Christmas dinner when i was about 22w, i had a half glass of rose wine mixed with lemonade to have with my dinner but that's it.
One now and again is ok, but definitely not regular alcohol intake as I've seen the effects of FAS and its awful x
I have a glass or half a glass of wine now and then, usually when we go out to dinner which is not too often!!
My bf and I hardly drink so we use going out to dinner as a time to have a glass of wine or michelada.ofcourse that one glass of wine never makes me tipsy so thats how I know its ok....
I've seen alcohol free wine in grocery stores and liquor stores called Frē. It comes in a white or red option with a few options in both I think. I've never tried it.
I have had 3 glasses of wine since I found out I was pregnant (21 +3 today). I will allow myself 1 glass per month as a treat to myself. Usually a red but have had a sip or two of white instead. Haven't had any blowback from my family or doctor either.
I was also told a small amount of alcohol is okay, but personally I completely cut it out.
She did not give me a name. I will ask her tonight, and let you know.
