how long did you ladies wait to go back 2 work

Hello girls ftm here and I was wondering how long did some of you wait to start going back to work after birth? Is 2-4 weeks to soon to go back to work? I'm due next month and I have a good job opportunity and they are giving me time to settle in and be mommy but I don't want to keep them waiting forever and then forget about me lol

With my second. Last yr I.wasn't.going to go back untill 3 months but we decided with the cost of child care for 2 kids it wasn't.worth it. So we decided I'd stay home with the kids. Now I'm having my last one and getting.my real estate license in the next few months.

I originally planned on only taking 8mths off but just couldn't do it so took the whole 12mths and then some before falling pregnant again.

I think 2 to 4 weeks is crazy. 6 weeks to me is not enough either. I took the entire 12 + 2 weeks of vaca. You need time to readjust yourself. @Lisabee3 that's a true blessing! When I had my first back in Brazil, it was 6 months. I don't understand how/why they expect you to be back in 6 weeks in the US.

I would take 6-8 weeks at the very least if I were you. Give yourself the opportunity to recover from childbirth and bond with your baby, establish a good routine and allow your hormones to regulate somewhat. Going into an awesome new opportunity when you're exhausted and distracted and hormonal might be the best way to lose out on the opportunity - it's definitely not the best atmosphere in which to learn a new position. If the company is a good one to work for, if they made you an offer knowing you wouldn't be able to start until after you have a chance to "settle in and be mommy", if they're willing to give you a shot, they know how long the average maternity leave is and they should expect you to take it. Keep in touch with them, let them know you're excited about it, but don't offer to cut short your time with your newborn because of it. They're teeny tiny for such a short time. Make sure you don't miss it.

My Coworker returned after 3 weeks. It depends on your body and recovery and of course arrangements for your baby.
