With the sids guidelines they just say you only need a fitted sheet so that's what we did with our son but as he's over 12mths now we make up his crib with a flat sheet, fitted sheet, blanket, and a matching bumper and it looks really cute. He loves to lie on top of the soft blanket and cuddle in which adorable :)
Thanks for responding.. but if you put more than a fitted sheet is there a problem?? I never knew please clarify.
Yes bcuz it can cause SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) ur not supposed to have anything but the sheet until they're at least 6 months.
Yep, like 3babyboyz said, while all that bedding is so cute its pretty dangerous. Baby can overheat, get tangled in sheets, suffocate on blankets, pillows, or toys and its been linked to sids. Its best just to have a sheet and some good quality pajamas or onsie.
Thanks!! I'll definitely keep that in mind lovelies :)
all ew used was fitted sheets and the sleeping sacks for infants. that way he was warm but it doesn't go near the head so you are safe. You can get different weights of them so some are warmer than others but they were fantastic.
Bumpers are also a suffocation hazard as babies get bigger. They're prohibited in my state because of deaths.
I used a 3 piece set with my first and plan on doing the same with this one. Yes, there are guidelines but I'm comfortable with putting a blanket in the crib with my babies(mostly on real cold nights, otherwise footie pajamas win) and using a bumper. I especially like the bumper cause their little arms or legs can get stuck in the bars of the crib. But they make mesh breathable bumpers, so that to me would be the best of both worlds. Oh, and the crib is in my room right next to me too. So that makes a difference. If baby was in another room is probably be on team "blankets are dangerous" more so.
We bought a full set with bumper and stuff for when she gets older. I have 3 of the 4 bumpers in her crib since she won't move at all for a while anyways. When she starts moving around I'll take them out until she's older- but we used full bumpers with my nephew and he lived just fine :)
I have a crib skirt and fitted sheet, when baby is older I'll add in a breathable mesh bumper but for now that's all she'll need. Our house is always freakishly warm upstairs anyway so blankets aren't necessary.
I've never bought a crib set adorable as they are yes a waste of money in my opinion and safety hazard as you can't use most of it anyways. I use a waterproof mattress pad under a fitted sheet and a mesh crib bumper that is all. Also don't freak out about baby needing to cold you just wasn't them comfortable overheating happens very easily with babies and can also cause sids. If you want to do a sleep sak I suggest just a ls onsey if cold if warm a short sleeve onsey with the swaddler. But definitely no loose blankets or the old fashioned crib bumpers to hazardous. Regular zip up cotton footed jammies are all my babies sleep with.
