went to the er and the drs are baffled. i need some insight

According to my lmp I'm officially 5 weeks along but I've been having persistent painful cramping that landed me in the er tonight. They checked mybhcg level which was 1166 but could not find anything on my transvaginal ultrasound. No sac no hint of anything in my uterus and apparently my levels are high enough that something should have showed up. They are having me see a specialist tomorrow morning because they had no definitive answer. Seems like they were going with possible miscarriage. But I've had no bleeding...not even any spotting. I have 0 pregnancy symptoms...my breasts were a little swollen last week but they seem to be getting back to their normal size. I'm 28...no children and no clue what all of this means. They checked for signs of an ectopic pregnancy as well but didn't find anything leading them to believe that I have a tubal pregnancy. What is going on??? I'm freaking out and I have no idea how I'm going to get any sleep tonight. Its very unsettling when your body confuses several doctors..even the head doctor at the er.

I hope its not multiple. I was on birth control so the fact that im even pregnant is pretty upsetting. But they did consult the obgyn there and have him come take a look at the ultrasound. He actually wanted me to see the specialist today. They told me to call at 8am but of course the office doesnt open until 830. I hate waiting sfuff like this. I was already freaked out over being pregnant and now ive got weird things going on. This is not fun.

Maybe it's a really really early multiple pregnancy? Surely that could explain high hormone level and the lack of anything showing up on scan as before 6 weeks or so it's hard to find a baby plus you had sex on March 21st but fertilisation takes a few days for example I had sex July 16th but my conception date based on scan was the 20th. So you could be say 4 weeks and a few days not 5 weeks this pregnancy stuff is confusing lol also er docs are notorious for being confused by pregnancy issues judging by what others here say  :)

I found something called blighted ovum as i was looking up my issue. It seems the most accurate. I cant sleep. I figured i wouldnt be able to.

I know for a fact that I conceived on march 21. It was the only day last month that my bf and I had sex because he was traveling for work so the 5 weeks is spot on so I know it can't be miscalculated.
