Best of Luck, ladies, you're in my thoughts and prayers for speedy recoveries!!!
I am praying for you that your little boy sticks....It sure sounds good so far. Sometimes the baby's start out small & then catch up.
I am going to Dr today at 4:30 to talk with Dr since he has been on vacation this whole time. I know I did M/c as I am bleeding alot now but no clots yet. I will make sure they do u/s prior to D&C though.
Eirlis, I am so sorry you are also m/c. Yes, cramping is not good. I certainly can feel the difference between this & the progesterone cramping. I can only hope I am lucky enough to get pregnant again soon. I wish you lots of luck also.
Keep in touch,
Donna
HI!
I am so hoping for the best for you!!! I just sent you a note too. I just had my u/s and while they see a good heartbeat (117), he's just smaller than they hoped he would be. I'm 7 weeks, he's measuring at 6. I was told to stop taking the progesterone and to come back in another week for another u/s to be sure he's still growing. They said if I start to spot or bleed to let them know immediately (obviously, huh?).
Make sure they do an ultrasound before the D & C to confirm that things still haven't progressed. If there's still no heartbeat, then I'd think that means it's time.
I think I'm starting to miscarry. I started cramping last night and had some bright red spotting with clots. It's not looking good. :-(
I have been thinking about you a lot lately. I would wait. I would ask for another u/s before that DandC. They may be right, but they very well may be wrong. I can't believe how many people are sent for a D&C and they find a heartbeat! It makes me wonder how many times that has happened and it wasn't caught!???
Try not to stress, but definitly request another u/s before you do that....
Hi there,
I have a D& C scheduled for wednesday but so confused because they told me my baby didn't grow last week. I am supposedly 6 weeks
my beta #'s were 84, 154,738,951 & now 1200.
I am so confused as to why my #'s are going up & they say I am going to miscarry.
I stopped taking progesterone on tuesday & now am starting to bleed-lightly.
So Stressed out..........
I think I'm the one HeatherLF16 mentioned. I've had a very abnormal pregnancy so far. As Heather said, my hcg levels haven't been doubling either (and they are MUCH lower than your wife's).
At 6 weeks we saw a tiny sac with a yolk sack inside but everything was measuring too small. That plus my abnormal hcg caused the doctors to recommend a d & c. We scheduled it for a week later, and the morning of the procedure they did a final ultrasound and saw a heartbeat! However, the embryo still measured a week behind and the sac was still too small... They did give me progesterone supplements to support the pregnancy since my levels were low and dropping. I'm still in limbo now at 9 wks waiting for my next ultrasound next week to see if things are still progressing...
I know how stressful it can be to go that appointment hoping it will all go smoothly and then it doesn't. The waiting rollercoaster is terribly hard to cope with and natural miscarriage is hell (I went through that with my last pregnancy), but I'd still wait and give things more time to see what happens. About 20% of pregnancies don't follow the average presentation, so until you know for sure that things have stopped progressing (either by another ultrasound in a week or by falling hcg levels), I'd wait and give it a chance. Do another blood test next week to see what her hcg and progesterone is at as that may give you more info.
Also, next time you go to the doctor, prepare a list of questions ahead of time so you get more answers. It's really hard to remember everything on the spot when you're worried and in shock about bad news.
Best of luck and I'm so sorry you are going through this!
I would also wait before doing the d&c. My last period was also 11/09/09, on X-mas day my HCG levels were 43,000. I am currently 7 weeks pregnant but my dr. won't do a u/s yet. She said it is too early & there really isn't much that you can see at this point. Since your wife & I seem to have been on the same cycle, I would assume she would be 7 weeks too. Definitely, don't rush into having a d&c too early.
I would for sure wait and not do a d&c just yet. There are plenty of woman on this site that have been told they were going to miscarry, demanded an ultrasound before the d&c and saw a heathly heartbeat. Actually, there is a woman in this community (August 2010 babies) who that happend to and her hcg levels were not doubling either. Right before her d&c they did an ultrasound and there was a heartbeat. I think she has an ultrasound next week to see if her pregnancy is still going well.
I would schedule an ultrasound for 7 days out with a different doctor.
The fact that her cycles are 35+ days has me thinking maybe she is just earlier along than everyone thinks that is why is hard to determine how far along she is. Would she happen to know when she ovulated or when the two of you conceived? A week in early pregnancy can make all the difference on what you can see on ultrasound. I am 9 weeks along, only saw a sac at 5 weeks, went back at 6 weeks and saw my little heartbeat. I too had bad cramping on my side from a cyst, and that is why I had so many early ultrasounds. As far as HCG goes, I don't think it matters if it is on the lower side. What matters is that they are doubling every 3 days. But, again there are women I have heard of on this site that they are not quite doubling and everything turns out to be OK. Good luck to the both of you and please let me know if you have more questions.
