any one had an amnio???

Hello all! I am strongly considering having an amnio next Tuesday and was wondering if any of you have ever had an amnio.  If so, how bad does it hurt.  I am not extremely fond of needles and am terrified to have it done, but I think having it done would mean sanity for the next 4.5 months.  Please let me know you stories on having an amnio.  Thanks.

I had bad quad screen results and went ahead and had an amnio on Thursday.  While it's certainly not comfortable, and yes, does hurt a little when the needle first goes in.. it wasn't the worst thing in th world.  I also ordered the FISH test which tests for T21, T18 and T13... also tells you definitively if it's a boy or a girl.  The FISH tests come back in 2 business days.  Since mine was on a Thurs. I have to wait until Monday for my results.    .. then the rest of the amnio results come back in 2 weeks.
If you are as stressful and high strung as I am about your bloodwork and/or a bad U/S, I would highly recommend it.

I was a candidate for an amnio based on my age and m/c history.  But... based on my NT results and my Level 3 u/s, there seems to be no reason.  One of my dr.'s told me he did an amnio on his wife with their son.  He told me not to worry.  I am happy I don't have to do it.  I think it depends on the reason for needing an amnio

They said you only have until 20 weeks so you need to go ahead and get your amnio if you are concerned.  keep me posted

well I didnt but Im starting thinking about this.... I had my u/s done on Wednesday and the results are not perfect, they want to repet u/s but 3 weeks from now, I will be 22 weeks along. If anything will be wrong I think is to late for any decisions, am I right? How long you can do abortion due to medical reasons? Please help me
