SWELLING!!!

So up to this point i have had a great pregnancy, but i think my body is starting to turn on me.  Last night i finally got to sit down for awhile and i go to put my feet up and i notice that my right leg from the knee down is swollen like 3x its normal size.  How i didn't notice it before i am not sure but it was just my right leg, my left looks normal.  I know swelling is normal, but does anyone know why only one of my legs would be swelling?  Also, short of sitting with my legs elevated all the time is there any way to help stop/lessen this?

i have no intentions of looking like one of those ladies in the 1970's birthing vidoes!! holey ****, those ladies had some bushes back then!!  one of my friends went for a wax when she was in her 2nd trimester (she is a regular waxer) and she said it was worse than giving birth, so DONT WAX! just get your man to help.

I can't see it either...and I tried the squat over a mirror trick that was suggested awhile back in Pregnancy Forum...doesn't work for me.  I usually just try and feel my way around, but always knick something.  DH is going to have to help towards the end.  I know when you are in labor you don't care about anything, but right now (not in labor) I just can't see myself being okay being a "wooly booger" down there for delivery!!!!  As for the legs, I can still shave them now.  DH has already been told about that task too...haha!  I'm starting to get to the point where its hard to put socks and shoes that have to be tied on...

kenny- i completely understand what you mean by them not looking like they belong to you...Your hubby does sounds like a wonderful man!!!  My hubby had to laugh when i showed him my leg being swollen and in a way it almost made me feel better and i laughed about it too.  He really tries to help me not take all of these little things too seriously b/c they are only temporary and he is sure to always tell me how beautiful i am.  I haven't gotten to the point where i can't shave my legs yet, but Aaron is ready to do it when i need him too :)

my fingers and toes look like mini sausages! my wedding rings came off on february 15th and will not go back on, but my wonderful husband bought me a ring for my b-day to wear! last night was the worst, when hubby took  my socks off i have a huge indent from them more than normal. its very strange to look at your feet and legs when they are swollen, its like they dont belong to me!! claire-you are very lucky, i hope you dont get this. i discovered in the bath a few weeks ago i cant bend over with my legs under me from the swelling, hubby had to come wash my hair! doesnt he sound wonderful? he is for the most part, he told me last night as i was oiling myself down and crying about my swollen feet and legs and stretch marks that i am more beautiful then ever to him. i think hes NUTS but he did make me feel better!

It hasn't been quite as bad the past few nights, so i am hoping that i was just on my feet a little too much that day!!  I asked my doctor about it and she thinks that the baby is just sitting more on the right side causing that side to swell and not the other one.  She just wants me to monitor it and to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.
Claire-  Not everyone has to deal with this lovely side-effect :)  It has really only hit my one leg, so i am hoping that i don't get it anywhere else!!!

I am swelling like crazy too, but its even in both legs and feet. i would mention it to your dr just in case. maybe the baby is sitting on that side more. it could be nothing, but like i said i am very swollen at night but its even on both sides. better safe than sorry hon.

I'm sure this is not the case, at least not yet, with what you have going on, but just be careful and wary of Toxemia.  My sister started swelling and just happened to ask her doctor about it and come to find out she had toxemia and had to have an emergency c-section to protect herself and her baby.
