i am 10 weeks today... went to my OB, we werent able to hear the heart beat.... is this normal?

the doc didnt really seemed concerned, however i am, b/c my sister went to the doc at 10 weeks, didnt hear a heartbeat either and 2 weeks later she went back.... still no heartbeat, they later found out the baby had passed away at 7 weeks.... im just worried

With the doppler or with an ultrasound? I would think with a doppler, depending on your size that you should hear with within the next few weeks. With an ultrasound I dont think this is normal at all. I was told with my last baby that they could not hear a heart beat at 12 weeks with the doppler. I thought this was normal and she never scheduled me for an ultrasound until 20 weeks. I learned the hard way - with a missed MC at 16 weeks fetus was only 8 weeks....so all that time baby was not viables and hse said it was - Negligent. I would fight for an ultrasound by 12 weeks to ensure that the baby is ok. We have invested in our own doppler this time round. Maybe your doc will see you again in 2 weeks and try with the doppler again. If not, I would make a big stink. Good luck!  I am sure it will all work out.
