The side effects are terrible. Please quit for your baby. That's so awesome that you have cut back! But I wouldn't consider that the end goal. Keep going with determination to quit all the way :) good luck!

Its not easy, at all. I quit cold turkey on the 31st of December and have not wanted one at all. Addiction is oober hard to control so don't overwhelm yourself with doubt orwhat anyone else says. Think about baby. I can't stand the smell of smoke. Because all I think about is my angel would never want that in her body. Hope all goes well (: you got this!

Sime women might say they smoked their whole pregnancy and their baby is healthy and all, but every women and baby is different just how theres women saying this i also know some who did smoke and have a baby with lung problems it could also show that the baby is healthy but later on the problems in might show. And also this can cause an addiction later on his years i took a phsycology class for this

Yes smoking is bad for the baby and of course for you. And I use to smoke and I quit just like that once I found out...BUT depending how far along you are it may be a bad idea to quit now! Personally instead of asking women who are not profrssionals you should ask your doctors... Most doctors will not advise you to quit cold turkey because that will put stress on the baby because the baby is already addcited. My advice is to cut down a little bit more to like one in the morning and one at lunch and one at night. But ultimately check with your doctor first and see what they think

Everyone is right about it being bad for baby but I smoke as well. My doctor wants me to quit cold turkey but I've been cutting back to the point I'm down to 3 or 4 a day and I cut back one more every couple of weeks because that 4 will start to make me sick after awhile and it'll go down to 2 or 3a day so by the middle of my second trimester I should be done completely. It's not something I consciously decided to do though it's something my body just picked up on its own and I just go with it because I know quitting is ultimately what's best for baby

Smoking is unhealthy for your baby, but you know that already by all these commercials on tv. And from what others say...i understand that quiting is hard but if you can get down to 5 a day then wow that's great...next week try 4 a day, then 3, and work your way down....I'm sure you can do it. Maybe even try only smoking a half of cigarette and the other half later... you'll be able to quit...good luck.

I'm a smoker I smoked with my last two girls. Both my girls are healthy and weighed good weight. First was 8.5 second was 9.11. I don't think it's a good thing but it's think there its a lot worse things I could be doing.

Smoking cigarettes its extremly bad for tour baby. I know its hard but stop for that baby. You should start by cutting off until you stop. Your harming your baby by doing this

Smoking can affect your baby in many unhealthy ways but completely quitting just like that can be bad for you to i hear. As long as you cut back and know that your pregnancy is going well you should be ok. I don't smoke because I don't like it but my mom did with me and I came out completely healthy with no health issues.

Before I was pregnant I drank tons of coffee, smoked cigarettes and weed regularly.  So that would be so many withdrawals if I quit all at once. I am 7wk5d now. I have a cup in the morning and maybe a tea at night. Usually herbal but sometimes I crave chai. So no withdrawal symptoms and I'm not taking in too much caffeine. I cut back from 3/4 pack of smokes a day to probably 5 or 6..still working on it. As far as the weed goes I have a hoot or two if I feel nauseous. I don't even feel a buzz (since I used to smoke so much), it's just enough to knock out the nausea and give me an appetite. It's great that there's so many people that can quit their habits cold turkey. But there's lots of us who just can't.  Addictive personalities rule the brain, withdrawal symptoms are worse for us than those without addictive tendencies.  Weaning is sometimes the only choice.

Wow xkayluhx that's very mean to say... well at least she's trying, if she didn't care she would've carried on with her ways. I say well done gidgett760! And btw, second hand smoking is so much worse, so if you're around other people who does smoke, you're being stupid too!  @IndiVidual1146 that is totally wrong, I've never heard of anything like that, and neither has my mother. I had no trouble falling pregnant when me and my husband decided to have a baby...

That's not entirely true. And she's not stupid cuz she cut WAY back. At least she's doing that.
There's worse things than smoking- like drinking. And there's doctors that say you can have a glass of red wine a week during pregnancy. I'd be more worried about FAS

Some people prefer not to smoke during pregnancy as this could effect the baby, but quiting immediately will cause more damage to your baby as smoking during the whole pregnancy. It's good that you cut down so much, I still smoked during the beginning of my first trimester, started cutting down on the cigarettes per day until my daughter decided for me to stop completely, I got extra nauseous from it. I haven't smoked since, and I must say I do feel way better now. My mother smoked through out all her pregnancies and we're all perfectly healthy. No asthma or abnormalities. At the end it's your choice. Good luck*

I smoked with my first who is now 10, he was a preemie but not for that reason (had a seizure and fell) he is healthy. And I haven't quit and I'm 21 weeks now, baby is healthy. Just gotta try to cut back.

I smoked for the first trimester and my baby weighs 8 pounds 5 oz right now and she's perfectly healthy. She's always been over the average weight. She will more than likely be about 9 pounds when she is born. I'm not in any way advocating smoking while pregnant, I'm simply stating that its probably the women who smoke like they ALWAYS have (a pack or more a day)  throughout their WHOLE pregnancy who have babies with issues like low birth weight, asthma, etc. And my doctor recommended that I cut back then quit so that I wouldn't go through withdrawals because withdrawals are actually worse for the baby. A baby can die from the mother withdrawing. But they don't put THAT warning on cigarette packs now do they...

Plus anything bad you do won't only affect your child but also their children if it's a girl because your baby develops her ovaries and eggs inside you.

My boyfriend's ex smoked through her pregnancies. Her kids are small growth wise and have asthma. They get sick a lot too.

I was an AVID smoker, was at about a pack a day, crazy expensive for that too. Had been a smoker for at least 12 years or more, but as soon as i got pregnant i quit. my little angle deserves more than that, and on top of that i didn't want her to have to go through side effects from MY stupid choice, such as deformity, addiction, or even miscarriage. To me it wasn't worth it, I am 26 weeks 2 days, and thats the same time i haven't smoked!! I gotta say i have never felt better and i thank my daughter for my will to quit, as it was simply not happening before the pregnancy

I don't think it's judgmental if you speak the truth. If you don't want the truth then don't ask.
Smoking is extremely unhealthy, it's selfish to continue to smoke. You have life in you its a blessing from God.
