Ectopic?

Hi there, l think I am roughly 6 weeks pregnant . I went for a scan both ultra sound and internal and they saw nothing ??they did my blood hormone level which was 2000? So the called me for another internal scan and still nothing but couldn't find proof of an ectopic either? I have had no pain or bleeding. They r now saying they think it must b an ectopic but have to go back for more blood tomorrow? Could they b wrong or am I clutching at straws .
Thank you

I too had a positive test at home, but started spotting a few days later, I brushed it off as a false positive. About two weeks later I went to e.r. for something unrelated and they told me I was pregnant, about eight weeks according to my levels. They did an ultrasound and found no sac or evidence of ectopic so they decided to just watch my levels every two days. They were dropping steadily for about two weeks then all of a sudden started going up again. We had not had sex at all during any of this. Went for another ultrasound per my family doctor and still nothing, abdominal or vaginal. The next day I ended up in the hospital for contraction like cramping and was sent home and told it was my body trying to rid itself of miscarriage. I called my hunk the next morning who after listening to my story and examining me for five minutes decided to do exploratory surgery, emergency. He got in there to find an ectopic that had burst through my tube and was causing me to bleed internally. He said I would have died had it went one more day unnoticed from bleeding to death. I lost the baby and my right fallopian tube but at least I'm still here for my other two kids and still have one healthy side to try again. This happened six months ago and we just found out we are expecting again!

I had a D&C in 2007. I had started spotting, but had no pain whatsoever. The doctor didn't have to take my fallopian tube. Perhaps you're still too early for the baby to be seen. I wish you all the luck in the world!

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would be very concerned about ectopic pregnancy.  Once the hcg level is over 1000, it should be possible to "see" the pregnancy.  If you were my patient, I would want to repeat your quantitative beta hcg in 48 hours and I would also want to check a progesterone level.  For a normal pregnancy, the hcg should rise at least 60% in 48 hours (approximately double) and the progesterone level should be approximately 15.
I would definitely be following you closely, but I never give up hope until I am forced to.
In your case, there is still a chance that the pregnancy is normal.
Good luck!

I had two ectopic pregnancies last year and they were VERY painful. Don't worry to much at six weeks it may just be that your baby is still to small to detect. Believe me when it's an ectopic pregnancy the pain would be very strong. Wish you the best of luck.
