I'm on antibiotics right now cause I have an upper respritory infection. I am so miserable
Man i know what you mean, i got sick at ...28 weeks with some really strong cold and had a 101+ temp for days! I took tylenol but the fever would come right back after it wore off. At one point i went to the hospital because i was concerned about the temp. It was 101.6 when i got there and they didn't do anything, then on the way home it went up to 103.6 and maxed out at 104.2. They told me not to come back unless it was 104 or higher! And i knowww thats not right. I did end up taking antibiotics in the end, and it finally let up after 3 days:/ sucked!
Oh and I have to watch what I put up my nose because I have avms (arterio-venous malformations) in my sinuses/nose. So anything going up my nose could possibly get introduced to my bloodstream easily in the right situation :-P
I sadly don't have internet in my home. I get on here with my phone. I wish I had the internet lol but it's just an unnecessary expense right now :-P. I live with a humidifier too lol, I get nosebleeds.horrendously easy pregnant or not so that machine has always been part of my life. And I think the closest acupuncturist is probably 1.5 hours away lol. I'm kinda limited in my tiny toxic lake town lol. I've found if I fill my neti pot with chilly water it takes the swelling down for a little while lol.
I had bad sinus problems when I was pregnant...what worked for me... Olive Leaf Spray. The neti-pot was okay but I started feeling like the swelling was more of an issue so the spray helped with that. You can order it on-line. It's a natural nasal spray that relieves the swelling and helps with drainage. I also lived with a humidifier beside me. Acupuncture helped me too. I'm sorry. I know how uncomfortable this is. I avoided antibiotics and over the counter meds throughout my pregnancy with the above remedies.
Heck my kids pediatrician won't give him antibiotics for anything unless he's had it for over a week, and it qualifies under her certain guidelines. And I totally agree with that. I grew up in a no antibiotic home my mom is an RN. I never had any kind of respiratory issues until I started smoking lol.
I'm not "not so informed" I've been in healthcare for seven years. I know what antibiotics are good for and worthless for.
Overuse of antibiotics is why c-diff, mrsa, vre, ercb (thats a new one), multi-spectrum antibiotic resistant gonnahrea (yep theres a super-clap now. You have it forever), and antibiotic resistant TB are starting to show up like crazy. Mind you the TB one was inevitable, but still.
Antibiotics are given for viruses 90% of the time. That does nothing but disrupt your natural flora in your body. But people still just keep demanding them regardless instead of letting their body do what it's supposed to.
I had an upper resp infection when I first got pregnant and they pretty much had to put me on meds because it could have turned into.something else. Jusy food for.thought.
If its really an infection then u pretty much have to take antibiotics. Its necceasary. It can get pretty bad. Dont mistake stubbornness or just being kinda not so informed on aomething with taking a stand. If youre in pain it raises your blood pressure too and pregnancy is not conducive woth high bp.
Oh yeah, its great! I had a horrible cold and it was so frustrating knowing what would make me feel better but not being allowed to take anything! Now we're in hayfever season and thats just great too! At least the lovely Scottish weather is helping me out a bit as its freezing cold and pouring down with rain so the pollen hasnt had a chance to get too bad...yet...!
I'll have to call and ask... I got pretty lucky this pregnancy with colds, but dang this sinus crap me like a peterbilt hauling a double load!
To top it off it's my son's third birthday today and I feel like poo :-(
Can you try Tylenol Head Cold? My doc says that's ok. And Mucinex w/o DM.
