Marijuana and Pregnancy

I live in San Bernardino CA.Im 29wks pregnant and STILL havnt quit smoking.Ive tried numerouse times and was hospitalized due to excessive vomiting.I lost weight.I couldnt eat or drink ANYTHING.The drs tryed giving me a bunch of diffrent vomiting pillls they did not work.Im only able to eat and drink if i smoke weed.
Ive beeen smoking forever. My pregnancy was def not plannned.I was on birthcontrol when i got pregnant.I reallly have been trying to quit especially the last few weeeks with no luck.
Whats going to happen when i deliver.?My cousin and aunt have both told me they had their kids test pos for marijuana at birth and they had only sent a cps worker to thwir house to make sure it was clean and they had foood. And just closed case then and their.
But is their any other females that have gone thru this process.?Am i the only one who cant stop smoking out their.?

Excessive vomiting during pregnancy is called hyperemesis gravidarum. I have had it with two of my pregnancies. I have been hospitalized several times. Most of the time I cant eat or drink bc I cant even keep a sip of water down. With my twins I lost 14 lbs before I gained any of it back and I only gained 7 of it back. Medications dont always work for me but I just have learned to deal with it. Never in a million years would I think to pick up a joint and smoke it. From my doctor I take a combination of zofran, reglan, vitamin b6, and unicom. I would ask you doctor about these things. They could help you and are much safer then weed. Also when ur vomiting dont hesitate to go to the hospital and get iv fluids. You may feel sick not eating but im sure your baby feels sock every time it gets high.

Actually, where it is legal, medical marijuana is often prescribed to women with HG with between a 90-95% success rate. I wish it were legal where I live because it can literally be the difference between life and death if your HG is severe. In scientific studies conducted in several different countries, they have found no affect to the baby. Manufactured drugs like zofran (which I took throughout my entire pregnant), however, have not been proven to be safe. My advice is not to smoke the weed, but rather bake it into something edible. Also, only take what you need to take the edge off. And please, do your own research. Some people are so judgmental, but you may be doing the best thing you can for your baby. I've known women with HG so bad that they have been forced to terminate their pregnancy because of the strain on their bodies. Read up on it, take precautions, and decide for yourself what is best.

Also, Jordan, vomiting at 29 weeks is NOT your typical morning sickness. Read up on HG (hyperemisis). It's a real thing, it's terrible, and it is very dangerous. It sounds like this woman has HG. You really shouldn't be so judgmental. Marijuana is not the evil drug you've been brainwashed into believing it is. Cigarettes, on the other hand, are much worse for you and the baby. I do not use it myself, but if using it meant I wouldn't have to suffer HG again, I would. Especially after doing research on the subject.

Hi there -

When people are reaching out, looking for support and assistance, it isn't really appropriate to insult and shame. Let's keep this polite.
