They tell you that in case you have to have an emergency c section and your stomach is supposed to be empty for any surgery
Yeah on day 5 they prescribed me with lactulose, and i went on day 7 lol. I never saw the rest of the hospital when i was in, just my bay, bathroom and patient lounge lol x
My mom said because if u eat u can poop while labor .
Just eat something light. When u eat something heavy before an induction they say it can alter the.process of labour. Im not sure how but apparenly it can slow it down. Also theres a high.chance of being nauteous with an induction so a lighter meal will sit better. Most docs advise u not to.eat before labour but most of us do as it will be the last meal for a while!
Right! I think if you don't go they give something to help you. But with a Starbucks downstairs I think I'll be ok lmao
Aw Im so glad to be in UK tay lol. Mr came with emergency section at 529am and i had toast and yogurt two hours later before being taken up to ward, and i had my lunch and dinner as well. They make sure you pee before leaving but they don't make you poop, if they done that i woulda been in for a week lol. The midwife doing home checks on day 5, 7 and 10 check you've been to toilet x
That's why they tell you not to. Just answering the question.
My sister had to have a c-section even know her water broke on its own and they made her wait 6 hours before doing the csection
..well more than likely she will be in labor at least 8 hours anyway before they would put her to a csection so there's absolutely no reason for her not to eat
@ shinieshoes it'll be afternoon before they even start labor. I don't think they'd say c section before they even gave me pitocin
Your not supposed to eat 8 hrs before any surgery. If God forbid something happens and you do need to go under general anesthesia they don't want you to throw up while you're intubated. It's just a precaution.
Mommabear- yea they male you wait 24 he after labor to eat(unless you have the baby all natural without any drugs) you also have to pee and poop b4 they let you eat -.- its so stupid I don't think they do it in every state but NC and SC do this crap
Probably just was mandatory for her to tell me that. I'm gonna sneak in snickers minis too..ahhh lol
I ate at a buffet right before reporting to the hospital for my induction... I don't know why they told you not to eat!
i went my 26 hrs labor starvingggg i had a meal at 11pm and my water broke at 2 am so i didnt get to eat until after he was born .. i was miserableeee while my bf was eating in front of me lol
Good you'll be happy you did. I'm sure your super excited to finally have your turn! No sleep tonight? Lol :)
I ate I didn't know I was gonna get indoluced I ate tamales lol while I was being induced ahahah...
@ cali_momma I think she thought I was going straight in for pitocin. It could be 12 hrs before they start that lol I'm eating breakfast and well see how it goes
I didn't eat, i ate the night i fell asleep and woke up to my water breaking! So i hadn't ate in awhile and i puke peed and pooped! Lol i think it has nothing to do with eating...
I went to ihop and ate a big breakfast right before I went to the hospital! Simply because I was gonna be on the cervidal for 12 hrs! .. and I was still starving!!! I was so thirsty more than anything. My dr was even nice enough to let my bf get me a meal after my cervidal was done right before starting pitocin! Good luck momma todays your big day!! :))
So they dont want u to eat in case u poop or puke? But like 70% of women do that anyway....and seriously i dont think anyone cares if u poop the bed and im sure u wont care either lol not when ur in the middle of pushing a little being out of our wooha! I know they dont recommend to eat before a c-section but whats the difference if the mom goes into labour gets in the hospital and needs a c-section right away? Well.....if it was truly important they would want you to go in before midnight to monitor and make sure u dont eat. So obviously theyve had people eat before and it wasnt the end of the world lol
I had allan emergency section after a 10 hour active labour, id still had all my meals lol. Food only affects general anesthetia and its very very rare that they knock you out for your section. It may have somethin to with toileting but when you're in labour that's the least of your worries lol x
I think its incase you need a c section, i personally will have money on hand for after birth this time to send someone to get me something! During my 1st labor i woke up to my water breaking at 6 something almost 7in the morning in labor 12 hours and dinner was served at 4 something she was born at 6:53 pm! I didn't have money and starved until the next morning :(
