CT scan interpretation...atelectasis or micrometastases

I currently am going through a recurrence of thyroid cancer.  I had a CT scan of my neck recently which showed suspicious lymph nodes and suspicious tissue in the thyroid bed.  However, my question is about something the radiologist noted incidentally.  He stated that in the lung apices there were patchy opacities..probably atelectasis.  What I'm wondering is if it's possible that lung micrometastases of the thyroid cancer could have been mistaken for atelectasis on the scan.  Would they look similar?  If not, what would micrometastases look like on a CT scan?

Thank you.
Amy

Do physician's monitor this forum or should I have posted my questions to a different forum?
