Pitted edema

Edeam from abdomen down. Pitted edema in both legs, so severe at night I have trouble walking, does go down over night but still swelled when I wake up. Has been happening for over 3 months. Echo came back normal, and all the lab work, CT scans, ultrasounds have come back normal. I have been a diabetic for 29 years and do have peripheral neuropathy in both legs from the knees down, but that has not gotten any worse before this all started. Have been put on a dieretic, but it is not helping and am afraid of continueing to take it beacuse it may cause problems with my kidneys. Not sure what else it can be.

I am on hydrochlorothiazide (water pill) and Zocor for high cholestoral. Also take Humalog and Lantas insulin (4 shots per day). Take Prilosec for GERD and a potasium pill. Also on Peri-Colace for stomach problems. Spoke with the Dr. and discontinued all pills for a few days to see if it had any effect and it did not. Still swelling. Right now about 5 pounds of water, by tonight it will be 10 pounds. With being diabetic thought maybe CHF - told no, though renal problems - told no, not sure what it is, but need to find out.  Thank you!

Hello VABRAB

What are the antidiabetic drugs you are currently taking? Is the pitting edema progressive? Are you on pioglitazone? or rosiglitazone? Answers to these questions would further help.
