flu like symptoms that come and go
I have been getting sick for a little over a year now.  It has been severely interfering with school and making it difficult to care for my daughter when I am sick.  I have been to the doctor several times and they can not find anything wrong with me. I have been tested for lymes disease, Hiv, thyroid diseases, lupus, and other things as well and they have all come back negative. I get symptoms that last about 3 days and they occur about once a month. I usually start out with a migraine then I get really weak and severely tired. So tired that I can not force my eyes open. I also get hot and cold sweats, chills, body aches and irritability. I don't know what is wrong with me and I would really like to know what it is so I can be my normal self again. I am desperate that is why I am posting this question. I hope I can get some suggestions. Thank you!

Hello sickgirl99,

It seems you are having an episode of chronic fatigue or some viral fever like symptoms. Do you also have watery nasal discharge? Take ibuprofen and paracetamol for the management of fever and pain.

Hi.  I read your post and have some suggestions.  You may want to have a MRA and MRI done to rule out vascular insufficiency in your brain and MS.  Also a lumbar spine tap to rule out MS and viral causes.  Personally, I have had the above symptoms for 12+ years.  In my case it is basal artery insufficiency from basal migraines and Lupus.  My ANAs were borderline negative for Lupus for 8 years and for that time I just had your symptoms, then my ANAs raised higher and higher and I had inflammation of several organs.  The doctors still fight over the Lupus diagnosis even though I have 9 out of 11 criteria for the disease (you only need 4 to qualify).  The reason I tell you this is to let you know that sometimes it can take years before your bloodwork will show disease and to be diagnosed properly.  While you still have insurance, you should seek care from the best of the best.  Mayo and Cleveland Clinics from my research seem to have the most broad-based care and are familiar with rare diseases of all types.  Your general doctors may not be familiar with your particular illness and therefore won't have the tools necessary to treat you.  Looking back, I wish I had done just that.  I now have severe organ damage to the heart, brain, eyes, liver, colon and kidneys, I can't work now and I cannot afford health insurance.  Not to say you will ever be in my position, but it is food for thought.  Sometimes these things can be mild and other times serious, but you won't know unless you seek help from qualified medical care.  I truly wish you the best - Kristin

You might ask your dr.  if it possible you have fibromyalgia, I was also getting sick like that but my symtoms were lasting like a week at a time and i was also very fatigued along with the flu like symtoms, they tested me 3 times for lupus which all came back negative, I know see a rhematoid dr regularly to help with the fibromyalgia.  mq

Ok my son is almost 6 years old and he has the same symptoms, he gets sick for about 3 days once a month but he get severe vomiting and cant eat anything without getting sick.. not even water. The doctors keep telling me its nothing but the stomache flu and yet they keep saying nothing is wrong. I have been to about 6 walk in clinics over the course of 3 years and the emergency room once where they all say the same thing "nothing is wrong" They wont run any tests other than the regular checkup blood tests and keep saying they cant find anything.

www.survivingmold.com goto the symptoms page.  if you have doctors telling you nothing is wrong, the next step is to look at environmental causes.  Mold can be a dangerous cause of these symptoms.
