I am a 32 year old, gay, male, recovering sex addict who this past autumn suffered a bad relapse after 10 years of sobriety including 8 years with my long term partner.
During a two month period, October and November, I had multiple, anonymous sexual partners (about 18) and although I did not have unprotected anal sex with any of them, I did have very frequent unprotected receptive oral sex which on 2 occasions ended with their ejaculation in my mouth.
Since the beginning of December, I have begun going back to SCA meetings, and this week had a 28 day duo hiv test which came out negative (I am going to get another one at 3 months).
However, for the past 2, or 2 1/2 weeks, I have been experiencing some oral problems including very sore gums, sore tongue and a bit of soreness inside my cheek and inner lip.
My gums are red and a bit swollen and bleed when I brush them and my tongue looks like my taste buds slightly swollen, red and inflamed. The inside of my cheek is likewise red and a bit swollen in places as if I have bitten it while chewing food.
Being quite obsessive, I have been looking up symptoms on oral STIs but have not found anything that matches my symptoms: I do not have any cold sores or cankers that I can detect, no white areas or sores inside my mouth, and although I did have a sore throat one day last week, this was a typical one for me due to allergies and nighttime post-nasal drip.
Can you please tell me if you know of any oral STIs that may exhibit these symptoms - gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes or syphilis.
I do plan on getting a full sexual screen after Christmas, but in the meantime, am worried that by even kissing my partner I may pass on to him a sexual disease.
Thanks so much for your response.
